Re: Dash fabrication
Just takes practice wikd69. One last shot, it fits in the void behind the door with the Bead Roller, Shrinker/Stretcher, Plannishing Hammer & Welding table when they aren't in use. So, I'm hardly loosing any floor space at all when it's all put away. I have to add one more receiver on the storag...

Re: Dash fabrication
Thanks wikd69. I had to try a scrap pc. of .080 aluminum just to see what it would do. Bare in mind I've never used one of these contraptions before so I'm sure it would turn out better with practice. I'm surprised how easy they are to use. I figured I'd get a workout pulling & pushin' the workp...

Re: Dash fabrication
Just about done with this deal. Got all the steel parts painted black & made a plywood rack for the lower anvils. All that's left is to dial in the top anvil. Seems to have pulled the bottom in a little during the welding. A shim ought to bring it back into alignment. I tried it out and I'll be ...

Re: Dash fabrication
Nope, I didn't want to spend that kind of money. I've got about 200 bux in this including bolts & anvils. Not counting my time since this is considered a hobby. I need to save some of the aluminum for "Z" parts.

Re: Dash fabrication
I might make some bowls or somethin'. :D http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v205/pro70z28/TopEwheelBracket1.jpg I got the frame built. I knew when I decided to built an English Wheel light enough to easily mount to the wall receiver it would be a challenge. Deflection is not a good thing, so I am hop...

Re: Dash fabrication
Thanks Rob. I got the idea off the internet myself. :thumb: Tonight I cut a jig to align the top & bottom anvils. Next is to cut the frame tube & match it up to the flange on the back of the top wheel assembly. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v205/pro70z28/Ewheelwoodjig.jpg http://img.phot...

Re: Dash fabrication
My milling machine is just one of those cheap drill presses with the XY hand cranks on the table.
The CNC is a sign making table that I use in my sign business. I just upgraded the spindle to a 3 phase Perske so I could slow the RPMs down enough to cut aluminum & steel.

Re: Dash fabrication
All that I see in this guy is "Look at all of the cool tools that I have" Show-off. Your car would probably be finished if you did not spend 3 hours per day taking pics and posting them here. Back to work! Thanks wikd69 It's just a hobby for me. I'm building an English Wheel because that'...

spaz109. It'll be an English wheel someday. Got a little more done last night. Parts for the top anvil.
vegaracer, I hope I get to use it on the "Z" one of these days. I'll be sure to keep it clean.

Got a little more done tonight. Cutting out the backing plate. The slots are to index the backing plate to the adjuster assembly. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v205/pro70z28/E-Wheelbackingplate.jpg Cutting out the top cap that connects the ready rod to the rams. http://img.photobucket.com/albums...

Re: Dash fabrication
Here's where it's at so far. I have those cylinder rams cut to length. Turned a hub for the adjusting wheel that will be mounted on top. There will be a plate where the brass bushings are to tie the assembly together. Got a wheel and mounting flanges to make yet and the top anvil part of the project...
