Re: WARNING - U.S. Postal Service

It was a while ago, but I had even worse luck with UPS. Even on insured red-label parts, they would not replace them until they had been missing for 30 days!!! I was scrambling to get ready for a race, and had my new converter and firesuit pants (custom made Simpson) shipped to me red label. Both we...

All I know is that I ran about 8 years of racing using Avgas, never any known problems. In fact, the last drum I had (now poured into 5 gal jugs) is now over 16 years old, and it seems to still work fine. I run it in the race car for moving it around the house. I also used some of it in my generator...

I didn't rejet. By seat-of-the-pants, it felt like it pulled better at higher rpms (and the 1.5 mph showed it). IIRC, I shifted at 5500, and ran through the traps around 5300. I haven't run that car since 1988, but I'm hoping to run it this weekend if I get it back together in time.

Avgas?

Back in the "old days" when I was running my Super-Gas car as well as a bracket car, I used 100LL Avgas (100% in the S/G car, 50% mix with pump gas in the bracket car). I called one of the airports where I used to buy it, and now they want proof that it is going in an airplane before they ...

I had a Comp Cams 280 Magnum cam in my 350 (LT1 takeout pistons, roughly 10.8:1). I was racing it in an 11.90 index class and needed a little more cushion for hot days and high altitude tracks. IIRC, I picked up about 0.10-0.15 and 1.5 mph when I changed from 1.5 to 1.6 rockers. Regards, Michael Pli...

Hi everyone! I am new to this site. I recently turned 40, also finalized my divorce after almost 10 unbearable years (ex wife with substance abuse & psychological probs). I have custody of my 5 year old daughter. I raced originally starting in 1983 (nobody ever asked to see my driver's license, ...

Kinda apples & oranges, but I towed for several years up & down the west coast with a 1973 Blazer, pulling an open trailer with a 3100 lb car on it (and the whole back of the Blazer filled with tools and spares). I had heavy add-a-leafs on the Blazer (front & rear) which lifted it ~2.5&q...
