Hi Bad GMC, How have you been? I really appreciated your imput a while back! I was wondering if you found the part # for your shocks? I believe I'm going to copy your idea & suggestions & flip mine also. Have a good one! Lorne

Dave, I've not really had a wheel hop problem. My main concern was with the way I lowered my truck while attempting to keep good ground clearance. I understand that BadGMC's setup is moving the instant center lower than mine (still the same as GM made it). Is the way he did his (like a car, axle on t...

Sc, Ok, I see what your saying about the plates. Many years ago, I was talking with a guy, you know, what car guys do. He told me a friend had bought a tunnel ram from Midwest (you may remember that company, like $300 at the time you got it all). He was trying to help his friend making the car run r...

Sc, Off hand I don't have the numbers, I can get them though. I understand I can change the metering plates to ones with replacable jets, however the end to end setup runs out of room I believe between the carbs. Aren't the ones with the jets a little thicker? My real problem is that there is no acc...

Dave Morgan : If you have a minute...

New Guy here, I understand you have been real busy lately. If you could please check out my post about my GM suspension a few posts down. After talking with BadGMC & going back through your book. I think I have some work to do. My truck doesn't have much power compared to the "real stuff&qu...

Yet another tunnel ram question

Guys, This is a little off of what most of you guys are doing, but I'm looking for a little help. I helped a friend build a '34 Ford streetrod, just a cruiser. It's a no fenders, no hood, flamed piece. It just wouldn't look right with a regular duel plane & a cheesy chrome air cleaner (& he ...

Justin, As John said, I believe this should be done ONLY before the ends are put on. I've put backbraces on (being careful, a little welding at a time) & still had to hit the outside of the bearing end with a grinder on one side where it slides in the tube before welding them on. So yes, It's li...

Bad GMC, Thank You for the imput. A couple of questions. When you say you "lowered" the front spring mount, I'm guessing you mean it hangs way down past the frame (like the 4wd trucks)? My brother kept calling mine "raising the spring hangers" In reality, the springs/hangers hold...

GM Pickup rear suspension

Hi Guys! New Guy here. I've got a couple of questions about my latest project. I've got a '85 shortbed pickup with a 455 Olds-700r trans. This is a mild street/strip machine I built for my wife to drive. I'm getting ready to change the rearend to a 9" & want a little imput on shock mounts. ...
