Re: Testing strategy bolt togheter converter
NOTE If it is not a Neal Chance converter be aware some companies measure the stator angle backwards from mine so a 45 degree could be higher stall instead of lower stall. To be sure contact your converter builder to verify I always recommend making only one change at a time so you know clearly what...

Re: Testing strategy bolt togheter converter
The 45 degree stator should make the converter more efficient every where as long as it doesn't slow down acceleration in the front half of the track

Re: Converter Issue?
1) get a data logger in the car and i will be happy to look at it with you and show you how to read it . on my web site there is a SCREEN SHARING app so you can click on it and we can link our computer screens through the internet so I am able to see your computer screen from mine then you pull up y...

Re: Converter Issue?
You have a couple of issues your dealing with. I did look at your graph and it doesnt look terrible , only issues according to rpm graph are the rpm pulling back down after the converter flashes and it drops 1200 on the shift. I would recommend having the converter stall raised 200-300 and that woul...

Re: 6 lug converter
Depends on application, (assuming this is drag racing) on our billet 3 lug drive covers we have used them behind 4000+ HP turbo charged motors with out problems but then we have seen 1600-2000 HP nitrous or blower motors have problems. If a bolt and NUT are used (not just depending on thread in conv...

Re: 1/2 aluminum 1/2 steel bolt together converters
1) "feel that the 1/2 aluminum and 1/2 steel converters the front half expands at a different rate and feel that there is a problem with consistancy." This is false, an aluminum drive cover will NOT cause inconsistency , in fact it will be more consistent as the biggest opportunity to inco...

Re: Compressor oil
thicker fluid changes the trans brake stall and flash stall more than the stall down track, in other words thicker fluid is a good move when the converter is pretty close to what you want going down track and the drop on the shift but you need to drop some flash stall with out taking out power

Re: convertor for a 496
thicker fluid tightens the converter mostly on the trans brake and flash on the launch, it will still have some effect down track but not as much as on the launch

Re: convertor for a 496
the only way to tell you accurately whether you should spend money on your converter is to KNOW how the converter is holding the power of the motor and you need data logging to know that. If you have a digital 7 msd they have recording functions. If recording engine rpm is not an option then you hav...

Re: What diameter converter
A 9.5" will work best on motor
A 10" would be nice for street driving and nitrous
I cant speak for other manufactures but i would design a high efficiency 9.5" so it would be fast NA but not make heat on the street and still hold the occasional 300 HP N2O
