Re: Interesting front spring idea: Hear me out...

Moroso doesn't make a spring for my truck or most trucks for that matter. Its a 2000 Sierra which is the new but not brand new body style. I've talked to Moroso, and they were pretty damned rude actually. They totally blew me off and wouldn't give me any of the dimensions for the fullsize car spring...

Interesting front spring idea: Hear me out...

I have a very nose heavy truck (+60/40), and from what I've gathered from this site and Dave's book, I need a long light spring in the front to get it to transfer weight. I picked up a set of V6 springs to see if it would help, and it did....some. From my calcs, the stock V8 springs are around 438lb...

Re: Question for Billy Shope: 3 link calculator

Thanks for clarifying for me. :-) I'm still trying to wrap my head around all of this.

Question for Billy Shope: 3 link calculator

I'm toying with the idea of running an asymmetric 3-link like you've outlined on your site. I like the idea of it cancelling driveshaft torque and equal tire loading. Also due to packaging constraints it really makes sense to put one in my truck. Anyway, my question is about the gear ratio value tha...

Re: How much antisquat is too much?

What is the difference between a 4 link and 4 bar? Does a 4 BAR mean it has parallel links, or links that are angled like a G-body setup. I've thought about a 3 link, and I think it would be pretty easy to do, but my only hang up is how to attach the center upper bar to the rear end. I'm not sure I ...

Re: How much antisquat is too much?

I'm not opposed to using leaf springs, but it seems that if I'm doing all this work fab'ing ladders bars or a 4-link, I might as well do it right and go with coilovers. I've seen people cut leaf springs in half with ladder bars and 4-links. They just use the rear half of the leaf spring and shackle....

Re: How much antisquat is too much?

I haven't committed to either suspension setup. I'm still exploring my options. As of now, it still has the factory leaf setup with caltracs that I can't seem to get to coorperate. The truck is street driven, but my definition of streetable is pretty liberal compared to others. I could easily stick ...

How much antisquat is too much?

In light of my previous post, I have a long wheelbase truck, and while trying to figure out a 4-link setup, I realized that anti-squat is affected by wheelbase. If use and off the shelf 4-link with the bottom bar near horizontal, or and off the shelf 32-33" ladder bar kit, I end up with ridicul...

Re: four link tubes

From what I understand, the tube is shorter on top for packaging reasons. They still have to fit within the confines of a car's floor.

Re: I've got a challenge for you...long wheelbase

Does anybody have any pics of this leaf-link setup? I've searched, and I can't find any pics of them. 4-link'ing the rear will be a last resort for me, but I guess first I should work with the cal-tracs and focus on some good shocks all around. Then if it doesn't get better put a 4-link in it. :( So...

Re: low buck suspension ideas

"Prepare for warp speed stand-by transwarp drive!" I don't want to hijack this thread, but I think it's along the same lines. How does one get weight to transfer and have the rear lift up at the same time. It always seems to me that you'd get more weight transfer if the rear would sq...

Re: I've got a challenge for you...long wheelbase

Okay, I'm thinking about going with some double adjustable coilovers. I don't think trick springs will fit the bottom pocket, and going with Santhuff springs and a double adjustable shock will probably cost just as much as coilovers. Can someone please check my math? Stock spring dimensions: wire di...

Re: I've got a challenge for you...long wheelbase

Thanks man, that really helps a lot. I guess I never thought about using up all my anti-squat before a run. I was always more concerned with building boost and not leaving with too much. Consistency....right. banghead: I do have a transbrake, but I've never hooked up the switch, mainly in fear of wh...

Re: I've got a challenge for you...long wheelbase

Did you try a moroso spring??? Maybe a small block spring for a nova ?? Do they give you anykind of dia for there springs??? If so you should be able to get something to fit in there I talked to them a few months ago and told them my application and they basically told me to take a hike. I do have ...

Re: I've got a challenge for you...long wheelbase

I think what you need is a spring that can be compressed alot so it will "Store" some energy up front. This will help lift the front on launch and hopefully hold it there.... This is the Trick part in the Moroso springs  That's what I was hoping the V6 springs will do. They're no...
