Re: Digital Readout for Tube Benders

You can offset the displayed angle for springback. For example, if you've determined your tubing springs back 4.5 degrees, you can start Tube Bandit at -4.5degrees when the tube is initially loaded in the bender. Tube Bandit will not measure or automatically compensate for springback. This is a prob...

Re: Digital Readout for Tube Benders

This is very cool. Couple this with the Bend Tech software and it's almost like having a CNC bender. Thanks! I agree - Bend Tech is great software. I was part of the beta testing group for Pro and got to inspire a lot of the features in the software. Cris, the guy that develops it, is top notch. Ve...

3rd gen Nova with 1st gen Camaro tailights

I stumbled on this Popular Hotrodding article recently and thought this was an interesting redo of the Nova rearend. http://image.popularhotrodding.com/f/24566341+w750+st0/0909phr_10_z+1970_chevy_nova+rear_view.jpg http://image.popularhotrodding.com/f/29377026+w750+st0/0909phr_08_z+1970_chevy_nova+t...

Still have the same problem. Is it possible the governor needs to be cleaned out or replaced? Or maybe this has to do with needing a kickdown switch?

Re: Sealing Wheels Tubs

On the wheeltubs I built for my 4Runner/crockcrawler, I used the spray-on rubberized undercoat on the bottom and didn't seal the inside. It works great. I've never seen a hint of moisture on the interior and I've had that thing sunk in mud, river crossings, rain, etc. It doesn't rattle or vibrate ei...

Re: TH400 2-3 Upshift Problem

Well the car is street driven and I do like driving around in auto most of the time, so the manual VB is out. The vacuum modulator is adjustable and I've used it to bring down the shiftpoints a lot for when it's just cruising around town. But it doesn't seem to affect the WOT shifting in drive/auto,...

Re: WARNING - Brake Cleaner and Welding

I came across this same article recently and did a little more research. I read the back of my can of Brake Kleen and found it could indeed produce phosgene (the apparent culprit of the article). I have used brake cleaner on a lot of parts prior to welding because it does an excellent job of taking ...

TH400 2-3 Upshift Problem

I have a TH400 behind the 355 in my Nova. The internals are of unknown history, but I can only assume it has some sort of shift kit in it because it shifts very firm. During normal cruising it shifts fine, but at WOT it wont shift 2-3. I have taken it to about 6,500rpm at WOT and held engine speed b...

Re: Speedway bender

I have not personally used the speedway motors tube bender (I assume you're talking about this one below), but I do have one concern. The roller type of counter die at the bottom can dent/wrinkle thinner wall tubing. http://www.speedwaymotors.com/RS/SR/Product/91084102_L.jpg A better type of bender ...

Re: You and your ride... Post it here get to know everyone...

Thanks for the welcomes! 71 Nova - Nice to meet another Cal Poly Nova fanatic. I made the trek out to Fomoso once a few years ago, but my ignition coil gave up the ghost on the way out there. I was literally at the turnoff from 99 when the car died and I rolled to a stop. The Gods just weren't on my...

Re: New Engine for the Nova

71 Nova where do you run the car? I don't remember any tracks near Santa Maria. The closest I can think of is Fomoso.

Real bummer about engine #1. I hope the builder took good care of you.

Hello. My name is Clint. I'm new to the forum. I stumbled on dragstuff.com searching the internet for John Heard. I followed his Nova build on his personal site when he was just getting started several years ago. Something about the mini tub, cage, and convo pros really inspired me. I have had my No...
