Re: Midplate mount
I use 2 midplates, one on the engine and one on the tranny, i can pull either one independant of the other without supports under them. The engine plate is 1/8" blocksaver plate and the tranny is a 1/4".

Re: hey everyone
I did some mudbug stuff and the chassis was a basic altered/funny car with 4 link rear and 4link dana44 in front but the front never did anything, kinda skipped. If it actually ever hooked up it would've ripped it apart. It has been a while and maybe there is better stuff out there now, we had to ha...

2nd stage tuning
John, i have heard that when you go to a second stage the tuneup tends to lean out. Would you learn us a bit on that? And, i have heard talk of leaning the motor by going to a smaller fuel pill and then raise the fuel pressure. If so wouldn't the result be about the same, that is a smaller jet at hi...

7530T Cyl Timing
Morning all, i want to take advantage of the ICT function in my msd box. My fireing order isn't on the available drop-down list. The standard GM fireing order is there, the 4-7 camswap order isn't there. I couldn't find a way to entier this firing order into the program, what am i doing wrong as thi...

Re: O ring w/cometic?
Thanks John, thats good advice and very possible that somebody else has had thier fingers in the pie. We need to make a decision, good or bad, in next couple days, we want to be on dyno thur or friday for tuning so we can test next week. I think our first race is the 10th.

Re: reusing copper head gaskets?
When i use copper i number the head gasket so that it goes back into the same place. I've had mixed results with copper and have had best luck and reliability when you have a big head with a lot of mass. Copper on a sbc or bbc with stock type aluminum heads can be worrisome and tend to leak a little...

O ring w/cometic?
We had questionable leakdown and pulled a head to find 'O' rings and cometic mls gaskets. This was done by a reputable builder, what do you guys think?
While it is apart we are upgrading to aluminum rods, i am wondering if we should pull the wire and pound in some brass.

Re: You and your ride... Post it here get to know everyone..
I am OJ Higgins, i have a speed shop in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. I've been racing on and off for about 30 years and am now crewing John Powells' Cavalier. We run a 632 motor, last year it had a single 4 and a single fogger and we were getting pretty good at running 4.40's. The intake below...

Re: Tight track
Slowing the rear shock extension? Can that be done with penskies, we have them stiff at launch and they soften up but that would be on compression i think? Do i need to read the book again? I have yet to take advantage of the ignition, would it be a good idea to do a launch retard pulling another 10...

Re: Tight track
1st pass rattled the tire so that it shut power off, the data is there but i haven't looked at it. The 2nd pass i'd have to have another looksee and overlay it against what it should run but i'm thinking it was so quick and violent that the data won't be relevant. The car didn't even get off the whe...

Re: Tight track
Throwing hp at a tight track and going up in tire pressure is what we've heard too. Any idea why? Thanks, oj
Re: blue plug
The autolite 3920 series is a projected tip, ok for daily drivers but treacherous for a hot rod esp w/nitrous. replace them with AR3933 (same heat range) and see if that doesn't make better sense to you after a hard pass.

Tight track
We got embarrased late last fall at not being able to qualify at an event. We typically get a low 1.0X 60' time and run 4.40's. Late in the fall the temp was very cool and the starting line tight, we went into tire shake at the hit of the throttle, the 2nd attempt we went up 2lbs on tire pressure an...
