I race on 26x8.5s and have gone as fast as 5.95@116.5 and 1.35 in the 60'. My motor makes about 750 hp and the most I've sprayed so far is about a 175 hp shot. So the little tires are capable of quite a lot. They take some time to figure out, but they do work. That being said, small block cars tend ...

I'm making about 900 hp right now and twist isn't a big problem with my Nova with Caltracs. 1/2 turn more preload on the passenger side. But each car is different.

I've run a few set of Hoosiers and I like them. They work just as good at M/T for me.

Leaking internal seals in the tranny can cause the car to move like that when engaging the transbrake. Bradco did my Powerglide and my converter and he's top notch. He's in Louisville. I've also used Arnett's in Greenville, KY and they are great as well. They built me a killer TH350 for $1100. Had l...

Do you know what the heads flow through the intake? A solid roller with a lot more lift will take better advantage of your heads flow curve. Keep the split duration to help the exhaust side and keep a wide LSA for use with the nitrous. I'd looking at something like 254/264@.050" duration. Not s...

From what I've experienced with my Brodix 18x heads, they like to turn quite a bit of rpm, like a good bit more cam than you have and will want at least 13:1 compression. On my last 383, I ran 12:1 compression, a 263/273@.050" solid roller cam and it liked to be shifted at 7500. It seemed to ne...

No big changes for me this winter hopefully. Just bought some better brakes for the front, plan on putting a chute on the back and I need to pull the engine to check the bearings. Might go with fiberglass inner fenders up front, some better front shocks and I need to tidy up some wiring. Still waiti...

Yeah, I've got to check into the charging system as well. There's something going on there and probably with the box too. Very frustrating, tiring and expensive day just to go out and run terrible in eliminations. Should have stayed home. At least I did finally find a copy of Autometer's Tach Facts ...

Electrical Gremlins

Had a poor day/night at the track yesterday, which was prefaced with a bad tnt night last Wednesday. Best pass yesterday was a 6.41@110. Its best from three weeks ago is 5.95@116. Cuts out when on the bottle. I put a new coil in it, re-did all the grounds for the ignition and engine ground strap, we...

You might find some brake hose washers the right size if the hydraulic hose supplier doesn't have them. Maybe something for a big truck might be big enough to fit.

Some might argue the opposite...that going the full 1/4 mile is a waste of fuel and parts. I didn't like 1/8th mile racing at first, but once I had run 1/8th mile a few times, I started to figure out what the ETs and speeds equate to and it was all just racing to me after that. NHRA does do 1/8th mi...

5.5" of backspacing. No, its not mini-tubbed. Its all stock, including the shock location. I did drill a hole up higher on the lower shock mount on the Caltracs to get the bottom of the shock away from the inner rim screws and I used stick-on wheel weights instead of normal crimp-on weights. St...

I'm running 10" rims on my '73 with everything in the stock position, but then again, I'm only running 26x8.5" tires. Of course how much tire do you really need
