Re: Small tire vs Big tire
It sounds like you are adjusting a 4 link car, so just a quick point, don't forget you don't only adjust the IC of the bars but you can adjust the height of that IC up and down in reference to the center of gravity.

Re: Small tire vs Big tire
It will all depend on the initial setting of the bars. My ladder bars were set the same from 750 hp to 980hp and I never moved them. Granted the car did leave harder and harder with more power, but you can soften the hit of the bars when you get there. Mine were Chassis Engineering 32" ladder b...

Re: Small tire vs Big tire
I'm going to a big tire, now that I'm using nitrous the small tires are spinning really bad. What is the typ. big tire size? Can I still use my ladder bars? You can re-use the ladder bars, depending on how wide they are will dictate if you need to move them. A common size tire is the 15X33. Go with...

Re: Ladder bars
Measure the length of the bottom bar. Most likely you will wind up in a 32-33 inch range for a car of your wheelbase.

You should be serving steak dinner for getting it running.

If all you wanted was to see me sweat, just come over when its 90 degrees out. You could have saved a lot of money on engines and race cars.

Re: Sometimes you win and sometimes you loose
Considering this is the first engine Bruce has had that doesn't require pulling a string to start it, he'll be recording it.

Re: Starting in cool and humid weather
That sounds like an electrical issue. If the battery is good, the car should crank over in any weather. An engine with no choke will be a little difficult to fire and stay running when cold out, but it should still crank on the starter without issue.

Re: Engine prep for winter
Just prep it like your every day car. Drain the water and put a good anti freeze in it. You can pull the plugs and spray some fogging spray in it. If you really want to go nuts, you can back off the open valves so they are all closed, put a bag over the carb, jack the car up and put it on jackstands.

Re: Sometimes you win and sometimes you loose
If parts are going to fail, I would rather the rods land on the floor instead of driving over them at 150 mph. Its basically a preliminary stress test on the engine before it goes in the car.

Re: Sometimes you win and sometimes you loose
The motor, well lets see. The engine guru, is massaging the pistons right now. Next thing in line is to come up with the money to get the block work done, and to buy the cam and heads. I figure if I save $0.50 a week for life, it will get done sometime after I die....LOL How's your motor? Yeah, you...

Re: Jesel and T&D Shaft Rocker Solutions
I would replace the stands and go with that. Did you use the same brand of heads from the old motor to this one? I was able to swap my rockers direct from one set of Dart heads to another set of Dart heads. As far as spring pressure, I am over 300 on the seat and the last cam was .788/.762. The new ...

Re: 70 CUDA REAR END
My car was never as heavy as yours. Only 3400 was the heaviest it was on small tires. But it did go 1.42 in 60' and only 10.38. So I think even with the tire you have you should be able to improve your 60'. I wouldn't get excited if you don't get down to the 1.20's but I would think a 1.35 is doable.

Re: Engine compression
It is a bit more of a spread then I would like, but it was cold. you could spray a little oil in the lower cylinders and see if they pick up. I'm going to go out on a limb and say there probably isn't anything wrong with it.
