Re: The first outing went good.

The Camaro guys will always have their complex, since the 1967 Camaro design was based off the 1968 Chevy II, pulled ahead to compete with the Mustang.

Re: Clearance Between Tire and Wheel Tubs?

I've got a 29x12 slick on a 12" rim. Section width is roughly 14.3". I'm planning to cut the frame to the inner wall and reinforce with a 1 3/4" tube cut in half and bent to match the frame geometry. I'm guessing it won't get as low as your car, John, but I want to get it down as much...

Clearance Between Tire and Wheel Tubs?

I am in the process of minitubbing my Nova--planning to use full wheeltubs and cut down as needed. My question is how much clearance is needed between the top of the tire and the tub? I'm thinking the amount of shock compression from ride height plus 2-3"? This should allow for tire growth and ...

Re: I'm tired of winter. I wana' complain...

I was travelling for work last week as well. On my drive home, the thermometer in the truck dropped from -14 to -28 in a little over an hour. We call that normal here in Minnesota...not sure if that makes us tough or dumb! But, the snow has been great here this year and lots of snowmobiling going on...

9" Housing Ends

Well, I've started the winter upgrades a bit early this year. Planning on mini tubbing my '71 Nova and putting a 9" under it. I want to order a brake kit to get the correct hat thickness for measuring housing width. Before I order brakes, is there a preference between the Big Ford and Big Ford-...

Re: Intake question: Edelbrock 2925 vs Motown 061040

Thanks. I've been lurking over there a little for the past week and plan to call Chad to discuss. I was just curious if there were any suggestions to think and discuss with him--always good to have a few ways to look at things!

Re: Intake question: Edelbrock 2925 vs Motown 061040

Its ported to a 1206 gasket. I wouldnt run any intake unported just seems like thats leaving alot on the table if you ask me. I've been looking at different porting options, seems to raise more questions than answers! What are some recommendations--companies, do's/don'ts? I agree that there's power...

Intake question: Edelbrock 2925 vs Motown 061040

Winter is coming, so time to plan upgrades for next year! I have a 388 SBC, 12.3:1, roller cam (250/260 @ 0.050, 0.622/0.629 lift, 106 CL), AFR 210's, 850 Holley on E85. Currently the engine has a Victor Jr (2975); I am going to put a new intake on, and have been researching the Super Victor and Mot...

Re: pics from last weekends race

68 Chevelle, What tracks do you guys race at? I remember seeing the Impala at Interstate Dragways a few years ago with a group of stout small tire cars. I was wondering if the class travels or races only at BIR. I've been contemplating what to do with the rear of my Nova, this class might be an opti...

Re: 68 nova....getting closer

I really like the way you added material to widen the DSE wheel tubs. Can you please post photos of the tubs and frame from the bottom of the car? I have been debating whether to minitub or backhalf my Nova, and I am interested in how you tied into the frame around the tubs.

Thanks,

Eric

Front Control Arm Bushings and Ball Joints

Just snowed here yesterday, so I'm kicking Santa's wish list into high gear! I have a '71 Nova with stock front control arms, poly bushings, and Moog ball joints. I have some binding that I want to get rid of, and have been looking at either buying a set of tubular control arms or replacing the bush...

The growing season is really getting under way here in Minnesota, so I will trade a full replacement winter air kit for a set of new muffler bearings. The tow rig spun a bearing on the outlet side on the way to the track last week, and I don't think I can repack it!
Let me know what you have!

Leaf Spring Front Mount

There was a thread on here some time ago that discussed the position of the front mount bracket for leaf springs. I searched for it, but came up empty. I remember it talking about Nova mounts locating the leaf spring roughly one inch different than a Camaro mount. I don't remember which was higher. ...

I run a Moroso restrictor in my t-stat housing. I don't remember which size orifice I'm using. I'm running a 388 SBC on E85, with electric fan and water pump, and it stays cool all day long at the track. Like John said, it allows quick cool down between rounds without the T-stat.
