Re: Timing issue again HELP
Does it run like crap? Hard to start? Also is it an HEI with vacuum advance? I still think it might be off 1 terminal. That can be checked easy enough by moving the wires around the cap one terminal clockwise, i.e. the #1 wire now goes where the #8 was etc. all the way around. When I did it the car ...

Re: Timing issue again HELP
Just thought about something else. If you are running a MSD box and using a dial back light I have been told it can cause problems. I have never had any problems, but I know some people have.

Re: Restoring Aluminum wheels for my truck
Ordered ENKAY deluxe kit yesterday. Found it on ebay for 32.95 NIB from a tool store in Ohio. Cost like 9.00 for UPS so still saved some money and should be here probably around Tuesday.

Re: Timing issue again HELP
Make sure the rotor is not off (ahead of where it should be). I did this one time and felt like an idiot. I would pull the distributor, get the engine on TDC compression on #1and then set your distributor, making sure the rotor tip is set a hair before the #1 terminal on the cap and see what you got...

Re: Lifter ?s for dart little m block
I have a set of PBM (probably gonna here some *&^% for it) horizontal bars, I think +0.300 and I am pretty sure a stock length pushrod and the block is at zero deck.

Re: Restoring Aluminum wheels for my truck
I'm gonna give it a try and see what happens. I still may get that polishing kit. I like all those rotary attachments, they look like they would come in quite handy.

Re: Weighed the car tonight...
It reminds me of a truck around here that used to race sand drags back when I was fooling with that. All it had was a full roll cage and a cab. No front fenders, clip or bed on the truck. Was pretty funny to watch with paddle tires on the back

Re: Restoring Aluminum wheels for my truck
I'm gonna try this first as it is about the simplest. Just kind of a mist on 1 rim at a time and hose it directly off?

Re: Restoring Aluminum wheels for my truck
If the rims are really oxidized, you'll want to etch them. I use the Eagle cleaner for non-polished, non-anodized aluminum. This cleaner will turn the surface white. After the clean, rinse, and dry phase, I use mothers, on terry cloth towel. You will be working your ass off on this part. Dig deep, ...

Re: Restoring Aluminum wheels for my truck
May try this first, I think I have some laying around somewhere. Do you use any abrasive with it or just a terry cloth?John_Heard wrote:If they are really oxidized, you can wash them with muriatic acid - but don't leave it on very long. It'll really cut the grime off but you'll have to polish them.

Re: Restoring Aluminum wheels for my truck
Don't use steel wool. Small bits will get stuck in the aluminum and rust. I used one of these kits when I did my bike this winter and on some truck wheels that were oxidized fairly bad. The truck wheels look like new now, and they were done using a red rogue only. My be easier than all the sanding,...

Restoring Aluminum wheels for my truck
So I found some wheels for a good deal, but need some work. They have some oxidation and some pits and I am going to try to clean them up and see what happens. This is not a show truck, so I don't need them to look brand new. I found some info on restoring them and wanted to see if others have had a...

Re: Anyone using the Cal-tracs?
I dig mine. I think they are worth the money and the are good guys to work with. They will fix ya up. MY 60s improved by .1 and that was before the new gear. Now I have a 4.56 and we will see this spring what it does.
