A good first weekend out.
This last weekend was our first race of the year and I just wanted to say, we are off to a good start.
Build the motor wednesday, started it thursday, raced it friday, ran great.
Someone caught me doin a john force burnout on tape!

Re: .040 pistons for 350 blown application
If the pistons were designed to be in a NA motor I would not trust them with a blower even at low boost pressures.

Re: aluminum rods
oh on the rod side of things has any one used the howards ultimate duty forged billet rods. Just from the phrase (forged billet) I would stay away from it. Forged rods take a raw casting and whack it a few times to make the shape of the rod, then machine it. Billet rods are machined from extruded m...

Re: aluminum rods
Dont be scared of aluminium rods, I've run them for years without one breaking. A good billet rod is better than a forged one in my opinion, but we've run both and never had a problem with either. There are two things that will kill one, not enough bearing clearance and cold oil. !!!Don't load the m...

Re: An engine question
You always hate to see a motor hurt itself, but look at the bright side, you caught it before it completely grenaded and took everything with it.
Its not the cheapest way to learn something, but its damn effective.

Re: 10.5W - 31 &Ladder bars, how much horsepower can you hoo
This is a decent pic of what mine do. Every now and then i can pull a 1.28 60' most of the time its a 1.30 or 1.32, after about 100' it gets up on the tire and hauls balls.

If it aint a handfull, it aint any fun!
I run a 31.25x12x15 of phoenix's, they hook pretty well but their sidewalls cant support my wieght and violence at the line and its killing my 60'..... and my tires.

Re: An engine question
Whats your main bearings look like?
If you are shaking the crank hard enough to bent a snout, you will probably have skuffed some mains too.

Im looking to try a different tire this year and that one is right in my size range.

A 14-71 HH on a small block, haha, I love it!
This is just a mild-ish 6-71 motor.

Re: Question for all the SBC guys.
Blower and crank snouts? It is not a matter of if the crank break but a matter time and when it will break. We have broken then all at one time or another. Blower cranks need to have scheduled life cycle and get it out of the block before it fails. Any blown motor is going to be tough on parts. A s...

Re: Rod & Main Bearings
We used to run harder bearings and after adding a blower the mains didnt hold up well, now we run soft single layer babbit in the mains and hard multi layer in the rods. It seems to be working, it had 10 hard passes on it when we tore it down this winter and all the bearings looked good. If you have...

OH dang, I like your comet, that would be a sweet street car, but if your racecar is like mine it'll eat all your time, money, patiants and just keep wanting more.
