Re: Supra Hybrid converter
Sorry it has taken so long to get back with you . We have been involved heavily with the supra inline six since the mid 1990's . We can help you out and i think you will like the car with the TH400 way better! Call me and we can go over all the specs. 316-542-9869 Thanks Marty

Re: Converter help
Q-max temp? Depends where you put the sensor. Sensor in the pan- you are measuring how well your cooling system works not how hot you got the fluid in the converter , so you want this temp to stay under 185 degrees when cruising long distance. Sensor in bottom cooler line , this measures how hot you...

Re: 9-inch converter
I could be more accurate with an answer for you if i had a dyno sheet on the motor and a data log of a run, but here is some general information. The lighter weight 8" is going to have the potential to be faster if set up correctly for your car , but if you are bracket racing the 9" has th...

Re: Converter help
If your converter man has all the specs on your car and the details of how you are going to run it he should be able to design a high flash stall 9" that will still have enough lock up that you can take long drives. You should install trans temp sensor for the long drives to make sure the cooli...

Re: A/trans. hp losses
no doubt about it , I recommend a p/g for your application , as for power loss - most p/g only take 20-25 hp to turn. As for the converter , give me a call and i can give you an estimate and what i would design as i try to keep my part of this board more on the "info" side and less on the ...

Re: A/trans. hp losses
i agree that you will not get the rotating weight down to the same as a P/G but i do not agree that the P/G is worth "alittle ET" . It cost more ET to shift into high gear at 250 feet (550 feet 3 speed) than to have a 3 speed that takes an extra 10 HP to turn but has an intermediate (2nd) ...

Re: A/trans. hp losses
these numbers reflect the power losses on a non modified trans and there are some transmission builders who really know how to lighten up the rotating weight and get the power losses down. I have noticed that a lot of people are quick to point out that the 3 speed takes more hp to turn but has anyon...

Re: Converter flash
good question. Converter flash is determined by the load vs resistance and a converter will flash higher the lower you launch until you get to the point where the motor is no longer "crisp". So you are correct about it flashing more when you come down off of max stall , but there is a demi...

Re: Converter......something is a miss......
if you are shifting at 6200 , that is way too high of stall. Remember when you talk to your converter man about the stall changes to give them ALL the info you can about the motor, car and how you race it and your converter man will be able to give you just what you need .

Re: Stators
WOW what a concept an infinitly variable stall speed converter , sounds great but it would compromise the strength so badly that you could not use a trans brake. Years ago we did an R & D project somewhat along those lines and had well over 6 figures in it ($$$$) and had tested a functional prot...

Re: Converter......something is a miss......
before you take it out and send it back, pull the chip and see what it goes to on the brake. This is very important info that will help your converter man set the stall exactly for your motor

Re: Converter......something is a miss......
NEAL sorry for the late reply, what will the converter stall on the brake without a chip? what does the rpm drop to after the shift? do you run nat. asp or will you be using nitrous also? do you have any info on the top end? cam, heads? it sounds like the converter is just too loose, if so the good ...
