Re: Converter Questions
stall on the brake will usually be a couple hundred rpm less on the brake than it is on the fall back after shift

Re: Converter Questions
Again jmark has given correct information and i would agree with all he said and would like to add , this is where the "magic" can make some differences and the magic usually comes in stator designs . If you were going to try a 9" the converter could be designed with a high stall pump...

Re: Converter Questions
fourtenposi - sorry it has taken so long for me to reply. (jmark is correct) your old motor and new motor stall the converter the same because they make close to the same power at the stall point . Stall speed is dictated by power but we are NOT talking about your motors peak power , stall is dictat...

Re: Stall relative to torque peak
good question. Peak torque is a good general starting point to put the stall speed but every motor will want something a little different . (for example a 355 cu sbc may need the stall above peak torque while a pontiac 455 may want the stall below peak torque.) The bottom line is tuning a converter ...

Re: Well here is my Marty Chance question....
Bracketracer , the original question posted by Scott Coxwell was on an 1/8 mile heads up nitrous car and my answer was directed more along the lines of rear end gearing as aposed to intentionally short shifting. You may see a small change in rpm or slippage by short shifting but I dont think it will...

Re: Converter ???
Bracketracer thanks for the interest in my converter . Mike Peters is right about the quote request , it quick and easy to fill out the information and then i will contact you on the remaining info needed or you can call me and we will go over all your specs. It is very important that you also talk ...

Re: Well here is my Marty Chance question....
Scott sorry for the long response time (i'm such a slacker!) Approx 10% but there are a few things that will effect it , such as where you shifted into high gear. If you are geared so as to shift just before the finish line , your data rcorder will show a higher percent of slippage because the conve...

Re: a questions for marty
It is difficult to give you a simple answer because there are many veriables that change the outcome so the answer is different for every vehicle and i do not want to confuse all who read this post . First when bracket racing are you 1/8 mile or 1/4 mile ? When using nitrous do you launch on it or u...

Re: marty can u help me?thank you in advance!!!
the 15% slippage would be typical in the sense that it was 5% on the motor and it gained 10% when the nitrous was added but a converter designed for your car on the nitrous will have less slippage than 15%

Re: marty can u help me?thank you in advance!!!
unfortunately this is not the answer you want to hear. Your motor is two completely different motors with totally different torque curves on and off nitrous. It is possible to build a "compromise" converter that will work ok with motor and small amount of nitrous , but it will never be per...

Re: Torque Convertor
I would design a very aggressive , fast locking 9" because you have a very broad torque band and a lot of numeric ratio with the 3 speed trans (2.48 low) , cost wise my converter is $1199 for the weld together and that is a converter that will last as many years as you want to race . Call me if...

Re: Stators Part 2
they appear to be NCRC 10" pro-mod stators , stage 1 and stage 5 . The stage 1 is for very low flash stall and quick lock up and the stage 5 is for high flash stall and slower lock up . Note they will only fit in the big 10" converter

Re: Blowing thru the converter?
The real test of "driving through" the converter is how the converter holds the power on the gear change , in other words how much rpm drop there is on the shift . To gauge this acurately you will need something to record engine rpm going down track.
