Re: Some Progress on the Nova
Can't wait to see what it runs once you work some of the bugs out and refine the tuneup.

Larry took a hard hit, no doubt. That was the car I lose to in the semi's. Beautiful car for sure.

Ultra Street Malibu 10-06-12 race results
We had another Street Car Shootout at Cecil County Dragway this past Saturday October the 6th. Air conditions were pretty good, car ran awesome, all new best times, track surface was excellent as well. I left a conservative tune in the car all day except one run, car still ran new bests on a mild tu...

Re: Ultra Street Malibu testing MIR 9-23-12
Converter flash, fall back and finish line rpm are still not where it needs to be. Lenny feels the car needs more gear in the heat. I've come to the conclusion the car needs two gear/converter setups. One for the summer heat, one for the spring/fal cooler air.

Re: Ultra Street Malibu testing MIR 9-23-12
No secrets in the car, just spent all season working on chassis/shock tuning and the latter part of the season working on efficiency and power. Spent a fair amount of timing working with the launch retard on the Power Grid. I adjust not only degrees and ramp in time, but also the shape of the ramp s...

John, that thing looks awesome, paint looks better than mine, that's for sure.
Great job on the rebuild, hope it runs as good as it looks!

Re: Ultra Street Malibu testing MIR 9-23-12
I just had to post this as I thought it was kinda funny. After that last run I stopped the car and looked for my water bottle to get a drink. Couldn't find the bottle, but once I got out to take my jacket off, I turned around and there it was. http://i676.photobucket.com/albums/vv124/10secBu/h20bott...

Re: Ultra Street Malibu testing MIR 9-23-12
I've been debating on a way to get fresh air to the carb for a while now. My choices were. 1. forward facing scoop on a flat hood 2. air pan feeding from grill opening 3. rear racing air pan on existing hood I chose #3 for now as it was the quickest and cheapest method to try near the end of this se...

Re: Ultra Street Malibu testing MIR 9-23-12
From what I read here, the pressure inside a properly built forward facing scoop isn't as much as you might think it would be. I'd have to dig through this thread to find the exact figure most experts agree was possible. http://www.yellowbullet.com/forum/showthread.php?t=366312&highlight=hood+sc...

Re: Ultra Street Malibu testing MIR 9-23-12
It likely makes a big difference depending on if the grill is blocked, vs un-blocked, if the car has fenderwells, no fenderwells, or a belly pan, etc. From what testing I have done with a manometer on a open grill, no fenderwell car and no ductwork, a measurement probe at the cowl opening does not ...

Re: Ultra Street Malibu testing MIR 9-23-12
Nice pass'es! I wonder about your air pan though. The car moving that fast is going to create a vacuum in your air pan. The cawl hood will want to draw air from the back and with no air allowed in from the front could cause air depletion in the air pan plenum. We run our pans all the way to the fro...

Ultra Street Malibu testing MIR 9-23-12
Hey guys, Been racing all season and I may have forgotten to stop by and update how the Malibu has been running this season since the rebuild was completed. The car has been running consistently in the 5.3x range at 129-130 mph in the summer heat. Tried to make some tweaks, but it was stuck at that ...

Re: Good Weekend for Me.
March Performance for the pulley.
I had one on my BBC a couple years back. Long water pump, single groove, approx 30% reduction if I recall.
