When you wire up the transbrake solenoid switch, also add an indicator light of some time to let you know it is on. You can/will burn up the solenoid if you leave it on. The bigger the light, the better...

LS style engines have technology in the heads and such that is light years ahead of the older stuff. While I would (probably) not swap from the 383, since I already had the parts, I would seriously consider an LS type motor in a new build. It is the stuff such as the oil pan and the coil pack stand ...
