I agree.

I didn't feel John's comment merited a reply. If engineers had to first ride a rocket, we'd have never made it to the moon.

Re: 125" hard tail altered questions

As you know, the driveshaft torque tends to unload the right rear and load the left rear. The reaction to this driveshaft torque is absorbed by the transmission/engine mounts. The reaction torque is equal in magnitude, but opposite in sense, to the driveshaft torque. So, if that reaction torque find...

Re: 125" hard tail altered questions

Hi Billy. Yeah, Dad and I are having a LOT of fun with this. I knew I would forget something usefull about the car; It has no front suspension, using fabricated spindle mounts (3-point contact to the chassis), and no front brakes. We have the wheelie bars, which are the bottom-flat-bar style, set o...

Re: 125" hard tail altered questions

Wonderful that you and your dad can work together on something like this.

Does the car have a front suspension? If it's a beam front axle, does it use a leaf or coils?

Re: rear coil over tuning help needed

Billy, Have any pictures of the "original car" ??? I have a few. Actually, the picture of the suspension, in this thread, is of the original. But, you say, you can count 4 links and I said it was a 3link. Okay, here's the explanation. The upper left link was originally intended to telesco...

Re: rear coil over tuning help needed

THIS picture you posted on here may be the one that started it all, and I believe it is the chassis to this car pics I have. Billy, look familiar? :smt003 This isn't the original car. This is a clone that was built recently by a group at Chrysler. As for the need for an ARB: The clone has a simple ...

Re: rear coil over tuning help needed

I feel linkage geometry has a much greater effect than IC location.... Dave As for the significance of the lower link being parallel, let's plug in some numbers and see what happens. Suppose the lower link is horizontal with a rear attachment point directly below the axle centerline and 9 inches up...

Re: rear coil over tuning help needed

In other posts, he’s mentioned that the car can oscillate fore-and-rear if an IC is at 100%. You've got me confused with someone else, Dave. I HAVE said that...even at 100% antisquat..., the rear of the car will wiggle as the front springs extend. But, the whole idea of setting a car at 100% antisq...

Re: rear coil over tuning help needed

Here's an interesting example of the incorrect information out there on the web. At this site, there are two schematics of a car with upper and lower links that are parallel, in side view, to themselves. In one case, the links are horizontal and, in the other, the links angle up from the rear. It is...

Re: rear coil over tuning help needed

At 100%, there is no relative motion between axle assembly and the chassis, so spring and shock forces are not important. Anyone want to buy my Afco's? I'm buying me some Monroes  No shock absorber...whether OEM or aftermarket...can exert a force if the distance between upper and lower mountin...

Re: rear coil over tuning help needed

Billy you have an unhealthy fixation on antisquat values, you really need to get out of the house more often... lol... Yes, I caught the disease during my schooling. All automotive engineers have the same problem. Antisquat is the only parameter which makes sense dynamically. http://www.racetec.cc/...

Re: rear coil over tuning help needed

You say you've run different antisquat values. Have you tried to get as close to 100% as possible? Page 48 at my site gives you those 4link combinations which will work best. At 100%, there is no relative motion between axle assembly and the chassis, so spring and shock forces are not important. (Ac...

Re: 4 Link System - Step by Step

Here's a post of mine from another forum. Thought it might clear up the questions some of you have: I'm tired of waiting. Let's bust some more myths! Specifically, these 3: * Lower link angle is, in itself, significant. * 4link spread affects weight transfer. * Instant center distance forward is, in...

Re: 4 Link System - Step by Step

I was trying to hit that cross just to the left. It's closer to 100% antisquat. Looks like the rear pivot for the bottom link needs to be in the bottom hole and the front pivot for the same link needs to be in the middle hole. But, the important thing I wanted to show you is still there. That 1 inch...
