Re: 65 AFX Mustang build pictures
Good to see a nostalgia car coming to life, but what is this, an A/FX car without a straight axle? I just had to do that.

Re: Piston to head clearance?
Apples to oranges maybe, but I ran an aluminum 7.000 long rod motor at .050 with no problems, at .045 it just touched.

Re: glide vs. 3 speed
Fast-high power cars like the glide.
Slower, heavier cars will probably do better with another gear.
Freezy, In my opinion your car would run a little better with a glide.

Re: Chassis Cert. Info
If you are just building to meet NHRA spec's pretty much everything is in the rulebook, even though its confusing and looks like it was wrote by a guy behind a desk that dont know a damn thing. If your chassis needs to meet SFI spec's you should call and order a SFI booklet, they have all the info y...

Everyone has there own way but mine is Chute, lift, neutral, fuel shut off, I never kill the mag, dont need the brakes much, unless crew guys leave the damn saftey pin in.... then I need them all. The tranny guys will say its hard on the bearings in the transmission, but I like to think I would rath...

Re: Weight Savings
When I stripped all the undercoating and sound deadener from under the plymouth, it was a huge pile, around 40 lbs worth.
Its loud as shit inside now, but hey, it is a racecar.

Re: Max RPM of a 565 BBC
I would guess you will run out of power before you would ever hurt that motor, we run a 4.5 X 4.5 572" mopar, I shift it a 8200 and go through the traps at 8400, if I go over 9000 my valve train gets pissed off. When we ran it NA, the HP dropped off right after 7500. I know its not a chevy, but...

Re: Dodge's and 24' enclosed trailer issue's
You might be surprised at what your rig weighs when all loaded up, I say you are probably under powered and under trucked. The big thing we found when looking a MPG is keep your speed down, you will get alot better mileage pulling at 55 or 60, than 75mph. But we seem to always be late and in a hurry.

Re: Small tire vs Big tire
The big tires will last a whole bunch longer too. We're lucky to get 25 good passes on our little slicks, compared to some people can go years without buying tires. I stick with the small tire because I hate to see nostalgia cars with the big 16x34s, and its alot more fun to drive when your not sure...

Re: SBC Blocks.
I watched the video, and yes steel caps are probably better in a circle track = (pussy motor). When I ordered my block from KB, Ken told me I should run aluminium caps, so I did. I'm pretty sure all the T/F and F/C motors run aluminium caps. From cold motor to running temp, I pick up about .0015 to ...
