Re: Holley carb

At idle your air speed is to low, on a street car with a small converter you should have a vac seconary carb. When you floor it, it dumps a bunch of gas down and a bunch of air and it bogs untill the engine has a chance to recover.

Re: Best 18 degree head out there?

I raced in a race recently which was at a 5.95 index. I had to retard timing about 7 degrees to slow it down. It killed about a .1 and 3 mph ish. 1st pass was 5.945 5 degrees retarted, 2nd pass 5.962 at 2 more degrees retarted. My engine builder says same thing... thinks its high, but said let the m...

Re: Springless valve train

Yea I saw there web site, just was wondering if any has seen it in person. Like to see it on a dyno, at more rpms then idling. Always in search of more HP.

Re: Best 18 degree head out there?

I sprayed 300 all day long. Only had problem when stepping up to 500 and thinking i would just run it fat to be safe. Now I see fat is not so safe. When I had a tight nos converter i only ran 25 degrees timing and retarded to 10 on the 300. I now have a high stall to run more on motor and it kept go...

Re: Best 18 degree head out there?

Have a nice 850hp sb2 motor. Only problem i have really had is the intake valve pocket is real close to the inside of the top ring land and have cracked there and lifted the top, on nos motor. Makes good power to 8600 rpms and on a 406cid. Single carb 6" cowl hood.

Re: 434 or 377

I have ran several 434 motors and turned them 7500rpms. End or year took it apart and all the cylinder were out of round, piston skirts all ate up from the side thrust and alot of main caps walking ( on a good splayed block). I now have a good flowing head 400 inches and 8600rpms making much more po...

Re: Advanced carb tuning needed

It's a trans brake drag radial car. 1150 dominator and 3 circut. The turn downs have a light gray film. The header are a tri y header stainless steal 4-2 and then 2-1 and then they funnel down to a little smaller pipe then, opens up to a 3.5 collector. I have the sensor right as it opens up 2 inches...

Re: Advanced carb tuning needed.

Where would be a good place to put a return line, how big do you need to run it? I have a -10 going all the way up to a Y and one goes to a 4 port and then to carb.... the other goes to a 2 port and feeds the fogger. Any suggestions.... was thinking of a fuel log and the regs mounting to that?? Don'...

Re: Advanced carb tuning needed.

Well sort of. I race in a 5:80 heads up index class which I race on motor (that is what Im tuning for now). I want to race in a heads up no index class, which will be spraying. My though process was to get the carb tuned the best I can then introduce the nos into it at that time and tune on that.

Re: Advanced carb tuning needed.

I'm not sure of your term ... think your asking if I have a return line to the tank. I do not have one. I have a bg 400 to a bg 4 port reg and two exit ports one to each bowl. Return line help? Right before the 4 port I have a Y block and one line goes to a 2 port bg that feeds the fogger kit.

Advanced carb tuning needed

I recently installed 2 wide band oxygen sensors one in each collector and trying to tune in carb, then tuning in nos. The sensors are reading 14-1 at the time the converter locks up at launch off the trans brake. Then 5 seconds into a 5:80 pass it reaches 11-1. Now correct me if im wrong dont you wa...
