Re: Stall Speed vs Torque Peak for Powerglides
if you have enough rpm left at the finish line you could put some more gear reduction in the rear end. As for advancing the cam it will usually give you a little more low rpm torque, but sometimes hurt the top end

Re: Stall Speed vs Torque Peak for Powerglides
first of all the answer varies according to your goal (peak performance or consistancy) heads up racers will shift at a higher rpm to increase the recovery time of the shift where a bracket application will shift much sooner to increase consistancy second it varies with torque curve (stock headed 44...

Re: Converter matched??
are you racing on gas or alky? the gear change will make the car react a little faster , 60' a little better , recover the shift faster . in other word it will connect all the good accelleration points and make the vehicle accelerate faster with the same amount of power. You may not loose any mph ei...

Re: Converter matched??
the converter is working good. it flashed 6200 and dropped to 6400 on the shift. You could try a lighter viscosity trans fluid to raise the flash stalls about 200 rpm to see if it likes that(redline light weight atf 800-624-7958 ask for kelly or camron) or you could go with the rear end gear one ste...

Re: Converter matched??
sounds like the combo is pretty close , but to accurately fine tune you need some data such as : flash at the launch does it flat line or dip back down after the launch rpm drop on the shift recovery after the shift there are some inexpensive ways to get data , the msd digital ignition or RPM data l...

Re: Neil Chance Converters on YB
i think someone is confused, as they did not get that price from me. the only way to build a converter for $500 and put it behind a transbrake is to use a 9 core with stock parts and a spragless. my sprag and billet stator cost more than that.

Re: Marty can I get your opinion
GREAT LOOKING CAR
i would try the 5.13 gear , it may also help control wheel speed on the launch. 6650 drop is ok for 1/8 mile and may help consistancy in the hot months. Overall my opinion is your converter is working pretty good , try the 5.13 and let us know how it works

Re: Marty can I get your opinion
sound like the combo is pretty close. do you know what the rpm drop is on the shift? The 5.13 gear may help it accelerate better especially in high gear where the spragless will hold back the engine rpm rate and may help the launch be more consistant by allowing you to leave from a lower rpm chip

Re: Marty, can you help me identify this converter?
it may stall slightly higher with the longer stroke.

Re: Marty, can you help me identify this converter?
N/A the converter will stall about 3800 to 4200 with your 4" stroke motor. As for the amount of nitrous the more the better as this is a very tight converter for your combo.

Re: Marty, can you help me identify this converter?
that converter is too tight for your n/a motor.
it has the regular 5 strut diode
If it is cheap enough i can redesign it for you, but you would have about $500 in changing it. Now if you want to throw some nitrous on it , then it would work pretty good for you

Re: shiming a bolt together
Sorry it has taken so long to reply. Give me the serial number on the converter and i will pull the original blue print (these are kept on record for every Neal Chance converter ever built)
thanks Marty
