What BBC heads do you have ? Some of the heads like the 049 heads work real good without any porting. Even a cast BBC crank and 2 bolt block will go into the 10's without any problems. Why not sell or trade some of the SBC stuff for parts needed for the BBC - if you think you will end up wanting a B...

generator
A guy I work with has a generator that worked fine at the end of last season and he fired it up last night and it did not work. He was told by a repair shop that sometimes you can just need to excite or charge the generator to make it work again but he would not tell him how to do it. He wanted to c...

I saw that happen on a 69 nova that was in small wreck at the track. The guy bumped the guard wall with the front end turning in at the first turn off and did not know anything was wrong for 2 yrs. He had to take the car to a frame shop to get everything lined up right when he changed the rear sprin...

16v
You can always use a step down resistor between the 16v and anything that can not handle that much ! I have been told by guys that have 16v batt systems that almost everything can run on the extra voltage !

Just be careful on the shipping costs from tex. You can check with local truckers or trucking companies and see if there is a truck going down there that can pick it up and pay after inspection for you. :-) I bought stuff from there -also live in pa- and the shipping can be very high thru UPS/FEDX/e...

driveshaft
I checked about them when rebuilding my car 2 years ago. I was told that alum shafts will twist more on launch which is easier on rears/gears but give you a slower reaction time and also do not live as long as steel ! Carbon shafts are stronger & lighter than both but also have a shorter life cy...

Wow, I thought street racing was bad ! There I saw a guy using a dog chain for a seat belt once. The tracks around here even look under your car after your burnout for leaks. Maybe we are too close to Wash. D.C. where there are more lawyers than garages to do crazy things like you guys...

NHRA lists window net under general regulation 6:3 as ribbon-type or SFI Spec 27.1 mesh-type window net as mandatory on any full-bodied car required by the rules to have a roll cage. From what I was told when I got the car cert. any factory built ribbon net is good. Just needs to be mounted on insid...

Mike - I had one like the AJE before and did not like it. Too hard to attach with gloves on. Tried changing to an old latch-link seat belt type but that required 2 hands also. Ended up with reg. seat belt style. Rustbucket the way you have the bottom bar you might want to ask your local track inspec...

Mine is as discribed by John with the heim end. Works great to swing up into place even after being strapped in. Also just falls back out of the way when released. You can only latch them from the top by rule because drivers were just dropping the net down and not latching them when you were allowed...

I use a 1 gal cell in front for a 750hp - 555 BBC with a single plate system (only 100 shot) and have a 1 1/2 qt left in cell after a run. System holds 5 qts with lines and pump. Can run 2 passes w/o running NOS. I like the weight being the same every round
