Re: winter changes/upgrades

I have enough of the car together I was able to look at the weight to compare before & after. Only thing missing from the scale session was water in the coolant system and carpet & headliner. Everything else was accounted for...I think. lol http://i676.photobucket.com/albums/vv124/10secBu/a...

They are from Pro Glass and have the scratch resistant coating. I'm planning to put glass back in everywhere else.

Re: winter changes/upgrades

Spent the weekend working through small detail stuff in which the list seems endless. The new water neck/fill came in and the fuel regulator hit it, so I had to relocate the regulator and redo two fuel lines. I completed the front end wiring which included the head and parking lights as well as the ...

Re: winter changes/upgrades

I now have all the body parts except for the hood. Made good progress on completing the body assembly. http://i676.photobucket.com/albums/vv124/10secBu/assembly89.jpg http://i676.photobucket.com/albums/vv124/10secBu/assembly90.jpg http://i676.photobucket.com/albums/vv124/10secBu/assembly91.jpg http:...

Re: Big Block Chevy Build

Todd, I was just reading an old posting by you on your big block combo on Speed Talk. Is this the combo you are referring too? Maybe, not sure. It's been a few years. My original BBC was a destroked 427 (414 ci) with the 781 heads that ran 10.70's at 3600 lbs on pump gas. Then I built the 461 used ...

Re: Big Block Chevy Build

My old 461 bbc with 781 oval port heads ran 10.0's at 3400 lbs. Mild solid roller, no porting on the heads other than a simple bowl blend & gasket match to the intake.

Being your car is 500 lbs lighter, a similar built engine would put you in the mid/high 9's easily.

Thought I would share this one pic quick to show how the interior colors will work out. http://i676.photobucket.com/albums/vv124/10secBu/assembly85.jpg Rear plastic interior panels will be reinstalled and are black. Carpet will be black as well as the 5 point harness. The window net is silver as it ...

Re: winter changes/upgrades

Worked this morning in the garage correcting an issue that came up. The seat covers came this week, so I installed them, sat in the car and put my helmet on. The headroom was not what I was looking for. It was a bit tight and once I put padding on the upper bars it was gonna get worse. Also, the sea...

Re: winter changes/upgrades

Todd do you think you had a hard time welding the collectors because they were coated? I know you ground it off but its seems sometimes coated metals are just a big PITA.They still look good as does the rest of the car :thumb: I do feel that was one contributing factor. The muffler is .030" th...

Re: winter changes/upgrades

Quite a frustrating day in the garage. I got the collectors/mufflers/turn downs mocked up and was ready to weld them together. Man, what a PITA. I've done alot of Tig welding the last couple years and these had me ready to throw them across the shop. Anyways, their done and I'll leave it at that. It...

Re: New Switch Panel

You can drill and tap the bar for 10-32 screws. We usually fabricates some brackets that weld to the bar and bolt the panel to the brackets.

Re: winter changes/upgrades

Last evening I got the core support flex corrected with some diagonal gusset tubes as well as a bracket to hold the vacuum pump canister. Next up is some stand-offs to help hold the stock fiberglass header panel. Once that's done, off to chrome I suppose. http://i676.photobucket.com/albums/vv124/10s...

Re: winter changes/upgrades

I'm gonna fabricated some stand-offs that will weld to the core support and give bolt locations to fasten the header panel like factory. Not all the locations, but some to give it more support being it's fiberglass. Top bar of the core support does have some flex which I thought it might. Will watch...
