Re: Falls on it's face!
Yes, it was timing and carb. finally checked the timing a 3rd time and for whatever reason, the damn dist. was tight and so it moved, only had about 32* timing in it. Fattened it up with new jets and air bleeds in the carb and put 36* timing in it and it was like a different car. Not yet enough thou...

Re: Rack & Pinion question
Yes, I'm going to put the arms under the sterring arms tonight. Would it require a realignment after I do so? There are a few chassis shops here in Columbus, but I'm sure myy dad an I can figure it out. Just won't get to drive the car much until its fixed. I'm just hoping that I can put the arms und...

Re: Falls on it's face!
Valves wouldn't do what this is doing...I've felt horribly adjusted valves and these are actually freshly adjusted. It just hits around 4 and you can just hear the motor struggling. Tonight I'll put the carb back together after cleaning the metering blocks out and see what happens. Here's to crossin...

Re: Rack & Pinion question
I'll figure it out...I wont' quit until I DO! I also agree with you, that I don't feel very safe in the car. And yes, I agree, there really isn't going to be a way to get this thing to fully be without bumpsteer with these factory a-arms...but like Craig, I might be able to limit the travel of the s...

Falls on it's face!
Posted in the chassis section about my rack & pinion, but also have an issue with the car's performance. I've not really ran it hard yet, but if I ease into the throttle it wakes up REAL fast till about 4000rpm and then just falls on it's face and pops a little through the pipes. It will NOT dri...

Rack & Pinion question
Finally got the car aligned and back to my garage and have drove it a bit. Before getting it aligned, it was "darting" REAL bad...was dangerous to drive. I had to crawl to the Goodyear. Now that it's been on the alignment machine, it's 100% better, but it's still a little hairy to drive at...

Should be back together soon
Well, finally had a stroke of good luck hit me square in the nuts :nutkick: I was turned onto an engine builder by the name of Doug Mann who run's Mann's Performance in Newark, ohio. He has done a ton of motor's and such for a bunch of the fireman and police officers that I'm friends with. And ALL o...

Yes, I triple agree with the above suggestions...don't cheap out on the lifters! If even one comes apart it can be catastrophic for you engine. Not like if a rocker breaks or something....when that happens you can get lucky and just have it fall on it's face....a lifter will just scatter pieces all ...
