Re: winter changes/upgrades

It's been a long time coming, but the Malibu rebuild & assembly is pretty much done. Tomorrow is a full day and evening test at MIR. Just hope I don't forget to pack something as it's been quite a while and I can't remember everything I took to the track with me.

Re: winter changes/upgrades

Making steady progress to have the car ready to test this coming Friday the 25th at MIR. Got most of the mechanical stuff taken care of as well as completing the interior except for the dash which should hopefully be painted Monday. Last evening I also put the car on the scales again to see how the ...

John_Heard wrote:That's great. What did the weight total end up at?
Have not done a total scale yet as the glass was just installed this past Friday.

Will scale in the next week or so, but should be right around 2900 w/driver.

Re: winter changes/upgrades

Currently making plans to go test on Friday the 25th of this month at MIR. All day testing, then stay the evening and make test runs with the ODR cars. Barring any serious problems/issues, should be a good chance to get the chassis dialed in some.

Re: winter changes/upgrades

Just a quick update. Glass was installed yesterday evening. This morning I had new trailer tires installed as well as getting the front end alignment done although he didn't even have to take a wrench to the car. Next project is some restoration work on the rear interior plastic panels and finish of...

Re: winter changes/upgrades

Well carpet party II is done. Without a doubt, the second job came out MUCH better than the first. This is exactly what I had pictured in my head it would look like. Not cheap, but after the first job, well worth the expense. Carpet is the best grade he can get, some padding & heat shield on the...

Re: winter changes/upgrades

Sorry to hear that. The car I did took almost a month. But a large portion of it was in the door panels. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.50043647337.64453.594302337&type=3&l=371b9eedf7 I did about 85% of the work. My boss did some of the tricking covering of the door panels (aroun...

Re: winter changes/upgrades

Well, the spare wheels have been sold to finance redoing the carpet. My upholsterer came over last evening and looked everything over. We discussed the layout and pulled the old carpet out. The first guy sure made a mess of my new sheetmetal just fabricated. Anyway, the car is going to the shop not...

Re: winter changes/upgrades

Very frustrating couple days last week. Dropped the car off for carpet on Wednesday, picked it up Thursday. Kinda surprised it got done so quickly. Once I looked at the work done I was in shock. Not anything like I had expected. I won't go into detail, but the work performed was not to my satisfacti...

Re: winter changes/upgrades

Thanks Todd - we were looking at making some rules tweaks and needed an idea on weight difference between Big Chief and Conv. Port. Looks like Cecil uses 150 lbs. 1/8th mile Eliminator BODY: Fiberglass/Carbon body panels are limited to hood, rear deck lid, fenders, doors, and bumpers. Cowl hoods ma...

Re: winter changes/upgrades

John_Heard wrote:Hey Todd - what class and series do you race in ? Do they let in BBC spreadport heads?
Hey John,

A couple local classes the car will fit in well.

Main one for this season is John Sears' Ultra Street. The others are 8.50 index and 5.50 index.

All of which allow for spread port heads.

Re: winter changes/upgrades

Been thinking about trying those Hoosiers as well, we have some 275 shootouts around here this year that my car would be legal for, but would probably need to get me some more rims or beadlock my 12's. I hear ya. I have two sets of extra wheels I was planning to use, but will take them to a swap me...

Re: winter changes/upgrades

They sure do look tiny, but if the ET's the guys have been running on them are any indication, they are quite fast! Are they on 10's Todd? I'm curious about the new M/T 275 they came out with. Seems to be more like a 28x10.5 Radial Slick.. Yes, that is mounted on a 10" rim. From what I've seen...

Re: winter changes/upgrades

New rubber for the back of the Malibu. I'm too used to seeing the car with the mockup 315/60's, these 275/60's look tiny in the wheel well. Hopefully in time I'll get used to the look, right now not digging it.
