Re: Stators
JMARK sorry it has taken so long for me to reply . Most spragless units are built for the same stator bore as the mechanical diode so it should be a "drop in" part. The cost for our 10 strut is very expensive ($550) and is normally used only in extreme power adder vehicles making more than...

Re: Stators
FAILURES ON NCRC DIODE - we have seen a cracked outer housing on a turbo charged big block that makes way over 2000 HP ,but he laid on the trans brake until it melted down everything !!blew the fluid out of the trans and caught on fire , that would be the extreme . Otherwise no failures and remember...

Re: Stators
JMARK i forgot to tell you we designed our own md and it has 10 struts instead of 5 and ingages 2 at a time not 1 .

Re: Stators
JMARK thanks for the clear answer , I would say that the trouble you have had is not typical of the mechanical diode and if you are winning races with your spragless then "dont fix what isnt broke" . I still have to wonder what caused the problem for you , the last time you had the md in y...

Re: Stators
JMARK thanks for the great questions and comments and for posting the pics of a regular mechanical diode. Have you ever broke a mechanical diode ? do you prefer spragless or sprag ? What improvements to the mechanical diode were you refering to ? And you said you like the fact that they dont break a...

Re: Advice on stall speed for new combo
This may not be the answer you are wanting , but you should make some passes on the new combo and get some DATA LOGGING on the car to see how the converter is working with the power plant , this means you will need something on the car that records at least engine rpm going down the track , some msd...

Re: Stators
SUNSATION - your neal chance converter needs to slip a little longer so as not to put the power to the ground so agressively (stator change) and your brand x converter may need to be "tightened up so it can hold more power with out having excessive slippage . Call me when you have time to spend...

Re: Stators
wow great question (i could lecture on this all day) you are correct curved blades do turn the fluid direction with less turbulence and will usually increase the torque multiplication , but you have to be careful as they can lock up too fast and put too much load on the motor which may result in slo...

Re: stall speed
impossible to accurately forcast how much faster the car will be and you may want to hold off on the cam change until after you make the converter change and test it , making two changes at once can give you hard time figuring out if one helped and the other hurt because it usually results in less g...

Re: stall speed
1500 rpm drop on the shift is a bit too tight , so you are correct about raising the stall but i would be cautious about raising it too much , because if you are bracket racing you may loose some consistancy if the car launches too hard , but if you do some heads up racing then 5800-6100 would be ok...

to answer your question 8% and 1000 rpm drop on the shift sound like the converter is very close. Marty

Re: conv slip and fallback rpm
ideal converter slip and fall back rpm ???? (great question) the amount of slip and fall back rpm is going to be different on every motor , remember the number one rule to make your car fast is - MAKE THE MOTOR HAPPY !! there is no short answer to this question . the longer your torque curve is the ...
