Re: Change converter or keep what I have?
Yes, I think there is a place for a spragless converter, I have one in the car now. My steel stator won't break the sprag either cause there is not one in it. Since the steel stator is stationary/locked the weight has no effect other than adding to overall vehicle weight which is minimal. The conver...

Re: Change converter or keep what I have?
Scott, if at any time during the run the stator wants to "unlock" and can't because it's spragless, it will cause drag in the converter. If the converter was designed so it didn't reach that point having a sprag would make no difference, but it would not slow it down either, and I would be...

Re: Change converter or keep what I have?
Read Marty's answer on spragless in the link below. I had one converted to spragless lost a tenth and 2 to 3 MPH. You might also try a tighter 8", stall around 6200 to 6500.

Check pressures, should be at least 200 psi with a brake.

I'd use the SV, I've had both the 4150 and Dominator versions. When you want to get it modified, check out Chad Speier below.

Re: SBC Blocks.
Darts blocks are the best, I don't think the Little M is rated that high but would probably take it just fine. 1000 HP... I hope you plan some power adder for that...

I'd buy a Callies and not worry about it.

X2 for Callies. Make sure you have an ATI balancer, a few of the others won't cut it.

Re: Titaniunm connecting rods
With the quality improving with steel, not worth the expense. Even some Pro Stock using steel rods now. With Titanium, you have to have a LOT of parting line clearance on a higher RPM engine as TI is more elastic than steel or aluminum.

37˚ is insane for an SB2, very strange.

Re: Off balance ?
Super Victor would be my suggestion, but in the mean time don't be afraid to jet it for best performance and plug color. If you can afford it, one of Chads SV's would be a plus.

Re: Best 18 degree head out there?
SB2's are generally not a nitrous friendly head for more than about a 150 kit without combustion chamber mods, done by the right head porter. The combustion speed in an SB2 is fast, which is why the timing is usually under 30˚, and not the way to go with heavy nitrous. Not to mention what you found ...

Re: Best 18 degree head out there?
Picked up the dry sump mandrel today, need to decide on a pump this week. I should get it finished up and in the car for a shakedown and break-in, then I'll pull it for the dyno. The heads are purpose built by RFD from bare castings for this project, not cup takeoffs. Looking for somewhere between 9...
