Re: Return of the Death Nova

The last one where it was practically on the bumper was a bit much for even my tastes. It felt like it wasn't coming down. I had enough time to actually think about what would happen if I ran through oil with one tire.

Re: Return of the Death Nova

It could still use a little more fuel taken from it so the carb is likely a little fat. O2 reads 12.4-12.6 in low gear and then leans up some to about 13.5 in high. Plugs show a little fuel.

Re: Return of the Death Nova

The jet limit is on the nitrous side. I run a 38 fuel jet with the 53 nitrous jet. 5.5 psi fuel pressure.

Re: Return of the Death Nova

It was a real challenge. Part of the day the left lane was decent, then it went away and the right was a little better and in the semis the right was total junk. Nobody on radials did any good once the sun went down.

Re: Return of the Death Nova

https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10203416673351609 Thanks, it was good to get into the 40s in NTS trim. I'm making progress with the setup every time out. The track was really tricky yesterday so that was the only good pass of the day. I detuned it to a 5.64 in the 2nd round and ended up losing ...

Re: Return of the Death Nova

I found an app that converts from temp and relative humidity to water grains. I'm going to compare to a friend's Kestrel and see if it's in the ballpark using local weather data. Not the best but maybe a decent interim solution.

Re: Return of the Death Nova

Last race was a rain out but I qualified 2nd with a 5.69. The air was absolutely terrible and everyone was pretty slow. My car felt like the nitrous wasn't even working. I'm surprised it went that fast. The tune went from being pretty clean to super fat with the air change. So I need to do a better ...

Re: Return of the Death Nova

I have Mark Menscer to thank for the great starting point on the rear shocks. I think that's a huge part of why the car is working well. I also got the weight 50/50 so that's a big help too. Plus I can now move that weight around since I had to add so much ballast to get up to weight.

Re: Return of the Death Nova

The first OSCA race of the season was yesterday. The car worked well all day yesterday. I consistently got down the track in the mid to low 5.60s. Not quick enough though. Qualifed 3rd. Probably would have been 2nd if a timing error hadn't messed up my best pass of the day. I think it was in the 5.5...

Re: Return of the Death Nova

Yeah, it kind of sucks. But I've never had the luxury of being able to move weight around so maybe its not completely bad.

Re: Return of the Death Nova

Thanks John. Its good to be back. Mike, its a jet/turbo/blower limited class. Specifically, I'm limited to 53 jets in a cross plate, 26 jets in a fogger or a single 76 jet. I'm running a cross plate at this time. I should probably move to a fogger but the funds just aren't there at the moment. Maybe...

Re: Return of the Death Nova

I finally got the Nova out for testing a couple weeks ago. It was close enough to done to go ahead and test. I still need to paint both bumpers but I don't think that'll slow me down. The first shake down run went great. The motor seems much happier with the new cam and Quick Fuel carb. It went stra...
