Jmark, This is just my opinion so take it or leave it, if you picked up going to a glide, you have a too much gear in the rear, Now I bet that you would have had better results going to a 3.90 or maybe even a 3.73 rear end gear. You car wouldn't be a dog off the line and it still has the extra gear to pull it at the top of the track. If you have too much gear it doesn't allow the motor to work in its powerband. Motor spins up to quickly. One time I did accidentally left in second and if memory serves me correctly I was .2 slow.

If we are bracket racing a glide is going to require less chassis work to be consistent, were a 3 speed, the chassis is really going to have to be dialed in to work and will be alot more sensitive to track conditions. If both combinations are optimized a 3 speed will outrun a 2 speed IMHO.

Just curious what are you shifting that 406 at?

We ran a 3.53 in the Camaro with the glide and didn't slow down. Next time you get to the track, try leaving in second.

Just my two cents.

My 74 nova with a 555 and a glide with 4.30 gears Runs 10.2's on 28x10" hoosiers @ 7500+ D.A. It has chrysler style leafs w/ single adj rear shocks and cheapy slapper bars. It hooks pretty hard, but spins the tires at the top of low gear. I think you should hook just fine with the calvert stuff. BTW why arent you running a 10" tire?

a 15x8" rim with 5" of back spacing and moved the shocks to the inside, but no fender mods and a stock width rear end. Also I think you want as much gear as your combo can stand with a glide to help heavy cars get out of the hole.
