Re: Leaf Spring Hangers
Did you ask them if they had tested them? Or worked with a car that had them?

No I didn't. But I am assuming they have. They told me they felt that with their setup their was no advantage to using the sliders and to save your money.

Re: Leaf Spring Hangers
I just switched from hangers to sliders. I had hangers on my car for many years and had a best 60ft of 1.298. I now have sliders and only 3 passes and have already gone a 1.281. So I am convinced that the 'junk' helped.
Re: Leaf Spring Hangers
How hard is it to put the sliders in? I only run 12.00s is it worth it for me, or spend money elsewhere first? Are they streetable? I still like to drive my car on the street.
I can't wait for race season, this has got to be the year.

There are a number of reasons to use the sliders, at your current ET I don't think I would bother with them. WHen you want to minitub the car, narrow the rearend etc. you may find they are worthwhile doing at that time.Ls7camaro wrote:How hard is it to put the sliders in? Re: Leaf Spring Hangers
I just mini tubbed the car over the weekend, I moved my spring perches in 6 inches on each side. Still running the 10bolt for as fast as I am going, when I get some more money, then I think I will look at enhancing some stuff. Currently just had the springs rebent and added a ply, I 60" in the 1.56 range.

Re: Leaf Spring Hangers
When I had stock suspension and factory mono leaf that I had de-arced with caltrac bars it all worked great in 3000 lbs nova. The car ran 5:50's in 1/8, only problem being that it would stand up and drag the bumper. Lots of bent control arms and smashed oil pans. Makes for a good video's though. By the way on a 30-13.5-et street. Had to weight 3000lbs for sm block chevy and one nos kit. I never used the sliders but ..... I think at your et, save the loot.

Re: Leaf Spring Hangers
SLIDERS
The AFCO leaf spring sliders (SEE PHOTO) can eliminate the up and down movement of the rear spring eye caused by shackles moving through their arcs during suspension travel. Consequently, the rear suspension's loading points displace less during suspension movement. Sliders, depending on their installed angle, generally reduce the shackle effectæ and provide more consistent spring rates than shackles. There is no shackle effect to the rate of the spring when the slider is mounted to point directly at the front spring eye center(this is the preferred mounting position). Since sliders are usually more rigid than shackles, they have less tendency to bind laterally during cornering. In general, sliders improve the handling consistency and predictability of leaf spring equipped race cars.

I guess this about sums it up
I have them on my Nova as well
