I could just as easily write a check to have it done (I too went to college and built a career, etc., and make a pretty good income). I don't buy my go fast hardware, I build it. Thats the point to all of this.
But even that isn't the really signifcant point I want to make here. I *want* to hang around with the rest of these folks, all the wanna-be-gofast guys (and gals). They're what makes the sport worthwhile. Unless you're into the corporate side of racing, courting big sponsors and chasing national titles, you're just another independant weekend racer, no matter what sort of purse you bring home in the end.
Being 'just another independant weekend racer', btw, is a pretty damn cool thing. It's easy to write checks, it's damn hard to build it all by hand. And those guys building stuff on their own are all of 'the clueless, the wannabes, the internet nobodies ' that you so casually dismiss. It's actually pretty cool to be grouped with all those folks. :)
I think that you should take some of that big money you make with your 30 year career investment and buy a clue as to what racing is about for real people.
Sorry John, that last post just hit a nerve and I'm a little ticked.
This would be another .02 cents I guess <g>
That was AWESOME Harry!!!! I'm right beside ya on this one.
