Re: 1970 Cuda 4 speed 60 ft problem
Got a question, on the upper control arms, do they make a "loose" bushing, like what they make for a chevy?
Knowing it's a street car, would poly body bushing also be a good idea for him to install?

Those who think they know it all have no way of finding out they don't.........
Re: 1970 Cuda 4 speed 60 ft problem
I'm not sure about the loose bushings. Does it have a sway bar on the front? If it does take it off and front will work batter. Poly body mounts is always good even for the street. I would at least do that and install a set of sub-frame connectors. Maybe a bolt in 6 point roll bar for safety. I know adding weight is a bad thing but safety is important. My car is heavy and look how it runs.

Hi Bruce !! therefore i start with suspension adjust ? i put subframe connectors ... if I can do 10s ', I'll make a plate of spaghetti with meat sauce' for all of you !!Bruce69Camaro wrote:Hi Raffaele,
Nice car....always liked those Cuda's.
I can't see any reason why your car shouldn't be in the 10's?
I do agree with the others, I see little weight transfer, front to rear and a stiff rear suspension.
Maybe I missed this but don't you need a roll bar in this car?
One thing I would do, before you twist things, is put in sub frame connectors in, you don't want to mess up those quarters.
Oh and while your at it, seeing your from the country that makes the best food, can you make me a ham and cheese calzone?

Everything that was mentioned is something to think about.
For safety you really need to get a roll bar in that car.
Maybe we could start a list for you with ways to help?

Taking the sway bar off of it will let the front come up faster and loose'er. It will help chassis rotation and plant the tires better. That's a start.

Competition Engineering makes a upper a-arm bushing for Chevy's, C3166 that comes with no serrations to rub on the cross shaft and because there is no friction, it allows the front end to raise up faster. This is what I'm talking about, but I'm not sure if they make this type of bushing for your car?raffaplymouth wrote:i dont know loose bushing, have all poly bushing on the front and factory sway bar with poly bushing ..
Also like Supernova mentioned, it wouldn't be a bad idea for when you race your car, to un-bolt the end link bushing on your swaybar. These end link bushing are keep the front end from coming up because they're still attached to the sway bar.
Here is a question for the guys running Calvert split mono's, can they be used on the street?

Re: 1970 Cuda 4 speed 60 ft problem
Very nice car.......
Drop the sway, put some sub frame connectors on, and move the battery would be a good start in my mind.
This is just my opinion, but after you get rid of the front sway bar, keep an eye on your tire to wheel well clearance.
The last thing you need is for the tires to hit the wheel wells when you launch it.
And I think clutchdude mentioned this, what tire pressure you running?
For the future, maybe going with a split mono spring over the multi's would be a good choice.
If wonder if he removed one or two leafs, would that help him????
