Caltrac split springs
I just mounted my new split monos and, I'm concerned by the way I had to force the rear of the spring to get them to line up with the shackles.
Should the alum bushings in front be pressed to one side?
Also, my tires are sleightly offset to one side.
What are your experiences with this setup?
Thanks, Steve

That will put the suspension in a bind and you don't want that. Need to find out what's causing the spring to bind.

Perhaps you can loosen up the front spring mounts and get them to move some so it'll line up? It won't take much to move it 1/2" at the rear.

Call Calvert and talk to them about it. Every time I've ever called them, they were more than helpful. What your describing does not sound right. I know mine were not like that and they fit in like a dream. I didn't have to force anything. Like John said, I suspect they will bind up if you leave them like that.

I saw that happen on a 69 nova that was in small wreck at the track. The guy bumped the guard wall with the front end turning in at the first turn off and did not know anything was wrong for 2 yrs. He had to take the car to a frame shop to get everything lined up right when he changed the rear springs. The frame guy liked old cars so he only charged $100 for everything

Talked to Calvert today, and he asked all of the same ques.
I'm sure the car is not bent, these are the 4th set of springs to be bolted up. Nothing has been modified with the perches or shackles.
I am going to remove everything and start measuring.
I will keep you guys posted, thanks for the help.

Well I took everything apart, loosend up the perches, changed the rear shackles back to oem (had energy susp), and put it back together. Everything checks out great now.
Caltrac sends those bushing spacers with the springs, and I used them last time which is why I had to push the springs over to fit. The bushings that come from Calvert don't have sleeves, and the bolts are not shouldered so when you tighten they squish. That is why I went back to the oem shackles/bolts- now fit perfect!
The rear is centered now too.
Only thing left to do is order shocks.
Thanks, Steve
