I have 66 GTO with about 625 hp motor. I have Hotshkis rear adjustable upper and lower control arms, Moroso front drag springs, CE adjustable shocks front and rear. The car runs low 11 sec with a 30"X9" slick.
What is the best way to get the car hook better?
What upgrades could I make?
Thanks Tom

What is your 60ft now? I use the HRpartsnstuff.com bolt-on antiroll bar. QA1 single adj in the rear about 3/4 stiff, KONI classics up front full soft ext, MOOG 5392 springs up front, and a Moser 12 bolt which has the upper ears raised to move the IC back allowing to plant the tires a bit better, on a Hoosier 30x10.5x15 radial slick.

I had a bolt come out of the right rear lower control arm last October and wrecked the car, totalled the frame. I am going back with polygraphite bushings up front and polyurethane body bushings too with hopes of improving upon my best 60ft to date of 1.376.

It has gone a best of 1.56 60ft at Rt66 raceway, but at other tracks 1.7s.

Alf Weibe suspension
Been hearing alot of good things about his suspension, but have not seen what it looks like. He doesn't have a web site. Anybody have any experience with his set up?
Thanks, Tom

It's a simple bolt-on suspension of a ladder bar configuration with an upper wishbone centering device. An ingenious design by Mr. Weibe for particular rules but, totally unnecessary to go fast. However, it does keep the car level during launch under the NHRA rules requiring a totally bolt-on suspension. The short ladder bars replace the lower suspension link. The upper links are replaced by the wishbone with a slip-joint. If the rules you're running under don't dictate a totally bolt-on suspension, have an anti-roll installed by a competent chassis shop and go forward from there or install one of the better aftermarket bolt-on sway bars like Bob West is describing.

As far as your car not hooking now, please describe what the typical launch is like............ absolutely no hook? initial hook and then spin?

I ran a best of 1.56 60ft. I spin the tire some out of the hole.
I want my car to leave like the red Chevelle! I would like to learn what it takes? What is the best way to go from here?
Thanks for you input,
Tom

Front springs, loosen front control arms, good shocks up front, stiffen the rear suspension, and an ATI converter ;)

I have tried to duplicate the suspension of the RED car except I dont have Alfs rear suspension and it shows. I'm a tenth off his 60ft and a foot lower wheelies 8-) I cant complain though, 1.37 is nothing to sneeze at.

this gives a very short instant center causing alot of hook IMHO this is great for a 11.50,-9.90 car ED can tell us how it works on faster cars with IC this short IMHO it will be unstable at 9.90 and faster esp on greasy tracks... and this is in no way advised for street use i have tried for months to contact Mr weibe to purchase a kit but due to( health his wife i think problems)and his building a new shop i have not been able to put my hands on one>> Ed hows the testing going?

Got to disagree as it ain't the ET but rather the 60 foots and my ride 60 foots what the typical mid/low 9 second ride does as well it 60's quicker than anyone using this suspension!

Further this setup has been 9.60 on another Chevelle but whose 60's are several hundreds slower than mine!

Be advised It is not designed or meant for transbrake launches!

That said, I have no doubt it will work and it will be stable sub 9.50 n/a and off the footbrake!!

i hope it continues to work well, yours is the fastest one that i have seen using this, testing and seat of the pants feeling will tell..i'm just curious as with everything in this game cam heads converters what you gain here you give up there, and a combo that dead hooks on the start and 60 it's azz off may not stick so good at 140. my fingers are crossed for ya..
