I run the same tire. I rotate mine at least each time out . I make 2 qual. Fri night 2 qual. Sat. and hopfully 3 rounds elims. So it looks like every 7 passes.

I think rotating slicks tears the fibers in the slick and cause's premature break down or falure of the tire.
It's like bending a peace a metal both ways. It breaks sooner then if only bent one way.

Just my thoughs, beside my tires don't last long enough anyway!

Billy Glidden says he rotates his every pass, and he's a tire tester/sponsored by M/T so there's probably a good reason for it. I don't have the help to do it after every pass so we do it after every race.

I do it every 15 - 20 passes. I find it helps to make the tires wear more even.

i have tried both. the thing i found was if u rotate the tires every pass they do work better to a point. after 20 passes they are shit in the sidewall dept.. but some guys only run 10 passes or so if you are one of them it's a good deal (every pass rotate) if u run 20-30 passes(me) rotate them half way through . this only applies to my exp on 10.5 28@3575. for what it's worth after 30 passes on my car the 10.5 stiffs won't stand up when dismounted the sidewall is so bad... :smt005
make a plan and stick to it !!

Rotate?? Uhh, Ahh, Yeah, sure I rotate mine. Everytime they get worn out, I rotate on a new set.

Swapping slicks, left-to-right, is treatment for a symptom. Why not cure the disease? If the rear tires are equally loaded during a run, there's no reason to swap. Do what's needed to equalize loading and check out your efforts with a traction dyno setup.

So Glidden does it just because he's bored in between rounds???

No, he does it because he doesn't have equal rear tire loading.

If two non-directional tires are experiencing the very same loads, it doesn't matter whether they're mounted on the left or right side of the car.

You don't think pulling on the cords in different directions has anything to do with it?

If cord damage has occurred, I would find it difficult to believe that a load reversal will somehow bring about a cure.

But, as anyone who watches NASCAR knows, fresh tires perform better. And, the more heavily loaded tire is going to tire first. (That's a terrible pun, but I couldn't resist it.) So, when the tires are swapped often, the performance remains consistent over a longer period of time.

But, again, it's better to cure the disease.

M&H has me running 7 passes, then rotating for one pass and then swapping back. Their tires are marked for direction.
