1/8 roll bar? Jacket

#1 Post by jaspermaggie » Sun Apr 11, 2010 7:12 pm

In the 1/8 when do you need a bar and jacket? It is a hard top.
My car is not as fast as I think it is.

This may be a little long explantion but it covers everything according to latest rule book from NHRA:

Roll Bar: Mandatory in all cars (including T-Tops) running 11.00 (7.00---1/8 mile) to 11.49 (7.35 1/8 mile), in convertables running 11.00 (7.00) to 13.49 (8.25), and in all dune buggy-type vehicles running 12.00 (7.50) seconds and slower. They are permitted in all vehicles.

Cars exceeding 135 mph or running 10.99 or quicker in qtr mile-driver must be licensed, chassis certified and must be caged.

Anything quicker than 10.00 sec or (6.40 1/8 mile) must be caged.
10.99 (6.99) roll bar permitted in place of cage.

Jacket: 10.00 to 13.99--1/4 mile.....6.40 to 8.59--1/8 mile jacket meeting SFI spec 3.3/1 Mandatory.

Hopes this helps and I hope I read it correctly in that 2010 rulebook. Whew!!! Glad I don't cook. That rule book is soooooo challenging and thought provoking and sometimes leads into interpetation...............
