rancho 5000 shocks

#1 Post by joe69Z » Tue Jan 17, 2012 4:48 pm

Got a chance to get a set of rancho 5000 shocks non adjustable, What shock stroke do I need for Cal Trac bars setup? Also went to crank car this evening turned fuel pump on and fuel went to running out of vent tube? Was fine Sunday. Could it be float stuck, or power valve busted? Fuel pressure is at 8 lbs. Help!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sounds like your float is sticking open or badly misadjusted.

On the shock stroke deal, the main thing is that you don't run out of stroke. Given that, you need to know the center to center distance at rest since most cars don't have adjustable height mounts. It would be nice to have at least a 6" stroke shock with maybe 2" or so showing at rest, and the rest of the travel available to extend when you launch.

A leaf spring car wants to extend the shock when running down track.
