Rack and Pinion Steering

#1 Post by vht » Mon Dec 13, 2021 7:55 pm

Has anyone installed a rack and pinion on their 57 chevy? I got one I'm building to race with some street use and I'd like to quicken the steering up without spending a fortune. It'd have to be rear mount and it'd have to match where the lower control arms rotate with where the inner tie rods are on the rack to keep from getting into bump steer. It has the factory manual box on it now that is in good shape but I don't care for the ratio. Thought about using the shorter steering arms, for P/S, and installed the roller bearing style idler arm and see if it will steer decent with smaller front tires. Any ideas or has someone out there done any of this?
