Good Deal?

#1 Post by hugger73hatch » Tue Dec 01, 2009 8:55 pm

Found a 24' enclosed Pro Line Trailer in excellent shape. It is black and has the vinyl walls with plywood floors and cabinets in the front. I think it is a 2008 model and has new tires and comes with a spare tire and wheel. The only thing I am not sure about is the 7,000lb axles. He currently hauls a vega that is about 2650 lbs, my nova is 3400. Also, what are most of you seeing for in pricing. He is asking $4750 OBO, what do you think I can get it for? I'm tired of having the car sit out in the weather and need to do something and building a garage is out of the question as we are hoping to build a new house in a couple of years, plus currently live in town and have no room for garage.

I would like to see it have heavier axles, but if you don't move everything you have in there, you should be alright.

We haul our 3000+lbs nova,4 wheeler, tools, generatior,my dads scooter, camping gear,coolers,2 spare tires, nephews dirt bike, ect ect. in our trailer with 7000lbs axles it would be nice to have more heavy duty, but it works great for us. We LOAD our trailer FULL because we have so many people go to the races with us and we tow it all over the state upto 400 miles each way. It sounds like a pretty good deal to me if I were in the market for a new trailer I would take a close look.

Went to look on the inside today. In tip top shape and definitely is a 2008 model. No scratches anywhere. I think I am going to make an offer and see what happens.

Don't you hate it when someone lists a price and then OBO, and you go to make an offer and they say they are firm on the price? Why don't they just say "Firm"?

I'm still thinking it is a good price? Ah, what to do?

Its not a bad price, but stuff like that does bother me. Maybe go there with cash in hand, and say take it or leave it. It works, sometimes.

To me, I just think if you put OBO on something you should be willing to negotiate, if it said firm I probably would not ask. Oh well, may hold out a couple of days and see what happens. I'm in no hurry.

Pro line trailers has new 7000 lb trailers with finished walls on sale for $3700-$3900 range all the time. You might want to check them out. That way you can compare the 7k axels with the 10k etc. They can also finance for you if you do not have all the cash needed. :D
