Sounds pretty good... What 1st gear are you using?

How are you measuring the converter slip? I can watch the tach for the amount of RPM fall after shift correct?

Are you using a data logger to figure that out?

thanks

ideal converter slip and fall back rpm ???? (great question) the amount of slip and fall back rpm is going to be different on every motor , remember the number one rule to make your car fast is - MAKE THE MOTOR HAPPY !! there is no short answer to this question . the longer your torque curve is the more you will want it to drop and if you run a p/g you have about 80% split between gears which can make it hard for the motor to recover the shift if it drops too much . Long story short - 900 to 1100 rpm is kinda rule of thumb drop on a p/g car and this may vary also with bracket racing versus heads up . Note less slippage is not always better , if the converter locks up too fast for the power curve of the motor , the motor will not accelerate as fast as it could have. Sorry for the over generalized answers , but i need more specific on your vehicle to answer more accurately , and this post will most likely create a lot more questions , so fire away . Marty Chance

to answer your question 8% and 1000 rpm drop on the shift sound like the converter is very close. Marty
