#1 Post by vader2 » Wed Nov 26, 2008 1:44 pm

Hey Marty, need some advice.

I am looking for a new torque convertor. I have a GER 3300 stall right now, worked fine behind a 454 but now I have a 555 and don't want to chance it. The car is primarily a drag car that may go to local car shows, no highway use.

Car has Dana 60 with 4.10 gears with a morrison 4-link with Mosier axles. Car weighs approxiametly 3100 I have never had it on a scale. I am running 29.5X14.5 Hoosier quick time pro's.

Engine is a Naturally aspirated Doug Herbert 555. DYNO'd 718hp @ 5700, 680lbft @ 4800

I have heard the same from many people, the covertor was in another tranny that is no longer in the car or in my house for that matter.

I would design a very aggressive , fast locking 9" because you have a very broad torque band and a lot of numeric ratio with the 3 speed trans (2.48 low) , cost wise my converter is $1199 for the weld together and that is a converter that will last as many years as you want to race . The torque curve is 644.7 @3600 to 601.1 at 6000. Please excuse my stupid question but what benefit would an aggressive fast locking convertor do for this set up? Wouldn't it blow the tires off? What stall speed and launch RPM would you recommend. Thanks for your assistance
