Chance N2O Converter

#1 Post by GTO » Fri Oct 23, 2009 10:21 am

I have a Niel Chance N2O converter that was spec'd out for a 451CID Pontiac with a 4" stroke on alcohol with a Rons toilet. Cam is 275/283 @.050, 705 lift 112* LS. Car weight was 2600 race weight with a TH400, 3.90 gear and 14.5x32 tire.
Weight now is up to 2900 race weight and the motor is a 535CID witha 4.5" stroke. Everything else is the same, cam, heads etc. How much will this affect my converter?

I bought this car with the conv. so I know little about it. It is a 10" and has the following markings: 8-01 GRIESEZ 4979 SFA SRX MD-3404PM-BUSHING+.250 . Can you give me an idea what the converter is and what I can expect for a N/A stall and a stall on about 250HP shot? ... Thanks, Eric

Why not call Neal Chance Convertors @ (316) 542-9869?
They should be able to decode your numbers if anyone can.

with everything the same , the increased stroke will add 200-500 rpm of stall. I would put the converter in and go make a pass. If you have something to record rpm while making the pass we can see exactly how the converter works with the power curve of the motor and whether it will hold any nitrous. If you can do all of this before end of season then you can have the converter dialed in for the combo
