Footbraking vs RPM

#1 Post by Bruce69Camaro » Tue Aug 09, 2011 7:48 am

Is there a "rule of thumb" for what RPM to bring your car out when footbraking a car?

I have been told that if you have, say around a 5000 stall converter, to bring it out around 2500rpm's.

Is this true?
Those who think they know it all have no way of finding out they don't.........

this varies with every combo.
things like large carb, cam shaft & heads may require you to leave at a higher rpm to avoid a stumble but motors that make a lot of torque right off idle will flash the converter higher by launching at a lower rpm. So there is no absolute answer that is right for all combos so you have to play around with it and see what you particular set up responds best to.
