I have a 10" converter and have broken the sprag twice now. The converter has undoubtedly has a ford stator, has 3 key ways, 2 wide and one narrow. I contacted Sonnax and they sent me a FDGM-MD-1, mechanical diode. It has the 3 key way for the ford stator and GM inner spline.
The problem is that I am not convinced that it is not locking backwards. The diode will only go in the stator one way due to the key way arrangement.
I have reassembled and bolted the converter back together, but would like to have confirmation on which way the diode is suppose to click before installing.
I have a stator shaft that I can place into the converter to spin the stator with.
THANKS for any help,
Rick

Re: Need help with bolt otgether converter
checking diode with converter assembled. put a stator support spline into the diode spline and turn "quickly". The diode should ratchet clock wise and lock counter clock wise
