After several attempts at painting my cage and interior sheet-metal, I finally got it done using
Krylon semi flat black. It turned out pretty decent.

Here's a preview of it.

Thanks guys, it turned it ok, I'm happy with it.

A lot happier then the black metal hammertone finish I used. I sure didn't like that stuff.

Now if I can just get my BEST friend Keith, over to install my headliner, I'll be in good shape.

He told me he was a pro at that stuff......

When your putting that headliner in pay attention to the straightness of the seams as your putting it in. Some people forget to pay attention to them and they get wavy. Steam goes a long ways too. I used to work at an upholstery shoop so...just sayin

Went to Walmart and bought a 6 pack and had a little left over. I did the cage and the sheet-metal.

Is that a hammer tone?

It looks like what I went with first, Rustoleum black metal, but your finish looks a lot better then what my results looked like!

I found out the finish looked better when the temperature was a lot cooler, but that was using a can too. I was advised to use a foam brush and brush it on but I had all the flat metal to cover and I didn't think I could get a smooth finish with a brush. I didn't have the place to use a spray gun either.

I talked to them and they said their paint can be thinned out and sprayed.

Nope, not hammertone, that's Rustoleum Black Night Metallic rattle can. It looks like a real dark gray with metallic in it when you see it in person. I was going to do just plain gloss black, but got some of this stuff and liked the looks of it.

That is a nice look.

Rustoleum just came out with some new colors and new finishes and I think that may have been one of them.

I used Krylon 1613 semi flat black because it looked more like the factory interior black and it was also under $3 a can, where the Rustoleum was more like $4 or $5 a can.

Yes.

I looked at Rustoleum semi flat and the finish was to glossy so that was another reason I used the Krylon, to try and keep it as close to the factory black.

The finish is also pretty durable.

Don't know about in your area but it is $2.97 a can up here.
