Off balance ?

#1 Post by JES » Fri Jul 10, 2009 12:24 am

Hello to all. 383,11.5 Weiand dual plane, air strike manifold with 1inch spacer/4 hole, completly devided. Low side must have two sizes smaller to color plugs the same as the high side. Is this normal ? Also this combo seems to need about 3 to 6% leaner jeting than one would think. 850hp with 72 low side 74 high side at about 3000 elivation. Runs great this way, what do you think?

Not uncommon for a dual plane. What are you using it for, street only , street/strip or strip only? What are the rest of the engine specs, converter/trans...

This is the same engine combo listed under "converter help". 383 sbc 11.5,220cc, alu,heads1.75 lt headers,3 inch exhaust w/tail pipes,4.11 gears 28in m/t radials,3350/w/driver. cam was 248/254 @.050w/.600lift mech/roller. Now will be 256/260and.600 lift 3800stall th350 trans. I want to try a single plane intake(wich one?) but would like to run the dual for now ,as I do not want to make too many changes all at once, as my track time is limited. thanks

Hi John, I ran stagered jetting with my supervictor on my 406 and that too was to get the plug coloring equal. I think a dual plane would make it even more necessary. Do what you got to do to make it run best!

Hi keith, are you going to try and race before the season is over? If so you will have to put the squeeze on your head porter!!! LOL, oh-boy..... what can I say? Even I have to stand over his shoulder to get stuff done, you know, make it be the most important thing in the world that very moment and it will happen. Anyway working with the new combo and should have some new numbers soon. thanks to all. John Eric.

Super Victor would be my suggestion, but in the mean time don't be afraid to jet it for best performance and plug color. If you can afford it, one of Chads SV's would be a plus.
