Lifter ?s for dart little m block

#1 Post by 434 nova » Tue Feb 16, 2010 10:15 pm

I have a sbc dart little m block but dont know if i need 300 thousands taller lifters. My cam is also a small base circle cam also, i have liftes that i used in the motor before but want to get a better lifter. What is the pro and cons of a vertical and horizontal lifters, which one is better. The cam is a solid roller also. thanks

I run a 434sbc in a Little M block and I used a standard height lifter, with vertical bars and it's a solid roller small base circle as well. I made up the difference with my pushrod once I got the heads and valve train on and could measure exactly what I needed. I ended up needing a +.100 pushrod so I bought the badass comp cam ones. The lifters I have are also Crane's that I spent top dollar on...

And now that Crane is gone, even when I retire these lifters..I will keep them...for obvious reasons. And I run a pretty nasty solid roller cam...it's got a hella fast ramp up and I shift at 7200 and I"ve not had one issue with anything valvetrain related...DRIVETRAIN..now THAT's a different story! ;)

I've got Isky red-zones in my new 434 dart lil m 300 taller. I had compcams in my 408 for 2 years driving and racing, they still look great. Both have oiling to the rollers. Walt

I have a set of PBM (probably gonna here some *&^% for it) horizontal bars, I think +0.300 and I am pretty sure a stock length pushrod and the block is at zero deck.
