im new to drag racing and im building my first race engine and id like some opinons on head choice for my 13 to 1 496 chevy. im only going to be turning about 6 to 6500 rpm and will be adding a 250 shot of nitous. im on a bugdet of about 3k thanks

These heads are right in your budget range. the 310cc would be as large as I would put on your 495 given your "low or conservative" rpm redline. the heads are fully CNC ported (intake & exhaust runners as well as the chambers) and include severe duty valves, manley 1.640" diameter nextek springs, and titanium retainers.

I have the 310 cc on a 13.4 to 1 compression normally aspirated 461 ci bbc in a 3450 lb chassis. best so far has been 9.628 @ 138.8 mph, 1.32 60' footbraking off the line. This is also on a 325/50-15 M/T Et Street radial.
These by far are the best conventional head out there for bbc.
Ummm, just to clarify, was that $3k budget for the heads alone, or are you trying to do a whole engine for that same money?
