New top-end for 2007 season!

#1 Post by DriveWFO » Thu Jan 25, 2007 7:49 pm

I'm gonna be running AFR 210 Eliminators with a solid roller this season. We're expecting to make 600hp which should get us in the 10.30s on the motor. I will have the motor on the dyno before it goes back in the car...I'm excited!!!

Im supposed to get a set of 23* Allpro heads from a sprint car complete upper end.. heads, intake.stud girdles, titainum valves, pushrods etc . they flow well over 300cfm from .500 lift up but they have a spead port exhaust so I have to cut up my headers and change the flange or just make some new ones.

I was never able to get a firm ship date from AFR so I canceled my order. I've got a nice set of Canfield 215s now and a mechanical roller :D

I've got a nice set of Canfield 215cc heads with CNC 65cc chambers. Valves are severe-duty REV valves (2.055/1.60), Manley retainers and Comp Cams 10* locks and VTO seals. Springs are Howards 1.550", 220# seat pressure, 550# open at max cam lift. The heads are held down with ARP 12-pt bolts to clear the large springs.

I'm running a Crane mechanical roller cam, 260/264 @ .050", .630" lift on a 106 LSA and a 106 ICL. After degreeing the cam, it was shown to be installed within 1/2* of 106...close enough for me. Lifters are Lunati pop-up roller lifters with a horizontal tie bar.

I will be running a Victor Jr std height intake, a 1" open spacer and my Pro-System 770cfm carb.

All I'm waiting on now are for my pushrods to show up on Friday. I'm using Smith Brothers 4130 5/16 8.200" pushrods with .083" walls. These are a stiff pushrod and are rated for up to 750# open pressure. After doing some research, I discovered that Summit sells the Scorpion Performance Race roller rockers under the Summit brand. So, I'm running the Scorpion/Summit full-roller 7/16 stud-mount rockers and ARP guide plates.

After all this, I'm looking to run somewhere in the 10s N/A.

I run comparible heads and a lunati solid roller almost the same as yours. A strip dominator intake and a slightly larget carb. Mine is a 400 cid with 12.8:1 compression. I cant quite may to the quarter with 456 gears but I can let off around 900 ft down the track and coast thru in the 10.80's. If you can run yours through, the 10's should be easy.
let us know how it does. And again, damn good lookin motor!

i think that lil motor should make about 550 or 560 i think. i just built a 383 at the end of last year, eagle 48lb crank, carrillo rods, wiseco pistons(384 grams). 12.2:1 comp, a set of 210cc aluminum heads from mike stark@ cfm, just port matched and some bowl and chamber clean up, a mild ported super victor, quick fuel 1050, bullet solid roller, .714 in 696 ex with 1.6 jesel rockers. it made 589 @ 6900 and 498 ft lbs. shocked the crap out of me i thought that lil motor should have made 630 or so. since then ive tore it all down and sent the heads and intake back to mike stark for the all out port job and hopefully should see close to 650 this time.
still gonna be down on power to hang with ole craig watson, but im gonna give it a shot

What was the deal with AFR not being able to ship,I was thinking of getting the 227's beacuse the Allpro heads I was going to get are just going to cost too much.Im also not sure if I want AFR's again I had the 220 cnc heads and they didnt flow as much as they were supposed to.

I think they were still finalizing the CNC programming. I wonder now if I fell victim to marketing hype...there are other good heads out there besides AFR.

both of those are some very good looking pieces.
i have had very good luck with the canfields and the afrs on my 23* 406. both ran high 8s to low 9s with a solid dose of spray in my 3300# boat.
