#1 Post by pistonpopper » Thu Jun 26, 2008 7:05 pm

what oil are you guys running in your race engines, been using rotella diesel oil 15w40, for some time. i see more and more folks running a synthetic oil @ the drags. some popular brands are synrogin,(spelling?) or castrol syntec ,q-state,and some running a royal purple. been happy with rotella, bearings look good, looing for some feedback???????????????

Valvoline VR1 40W with Lucas Synthetic oil stabilizer. :thumb:

Sneaked a peek at a rod bearing awhile back, it looked great. Retorqued the cap and buttoned it back up.

It's 2008 who uses 20w-50 oil?

I'll tell you who doesn't...stock, super stock, Comp, Pro Stock, smart bracket racers and yours truely!!

5w-30 is the heaviest oil I use and been using Mobil 1 synthetic for 30 years and nearly 20 in my race engines!!

I've been considering going to a lighter weight oil to pick up a few hp one of these days, been having pretty good luck with the VR1 20-50w so I've been hesitant to switch. One of those if it ain't broke don't fix it things for me I guess.

I run mobil 1 5-30 synthetic and gained .05 time and oil pressure still never drops below 40 psi, just changinf my tranny to synthetic royal purple and changed the rear end to syn.......it frees up horse power and still does its jobImage
