lets talk BBC headers

#1 Post by supernova » Fri Oct 17, 2008 6:58 am

I have been using Dynatec headers with my bbc in the 73 nova. They fit the tall deck block.

I was thinking of a set of custom made headers for the new car.

What is everybody else using?
And is it worth the money for new custom headers?

I've used Lemons on mine, on my second set now. Got to say I've always gotten a great fit and excellent service from them. They're easy to change plugs, etc. They fit tight to the floorboard to get about as much ground clearance as you can get.

That said I'm sick and tired of smashing them up...

I've talked to Dan and got some priceing, time it will take to do a set. $$$$$$$ Lots of money.

I also talked to and think I will take it to Lenmar motorsports here in the metroplex. I went to school with one of the guy's that works there. Know all the guy's out of the raceshop. I didn't know they built headers until today. The cost is less and can get done in a week and a half instead of 2 month's.

Here's the web site:

x2 for me as well, they fit tight to the floors, and i even used dans after market moly crossmember as well, great fit.i think the price was good considering shelf type headers are now around 400-600 bucks and to pay a guy hourly to fab. a set it was $$ well spent. :thumb:

Lemmons for me as well. I picked up a used pair off racingjunk for 600 bucks. You have to check a couple a times a day, they don't stay on there long.
I am not really sure what the question is, but I am pretty sure the answer is Big Block.

I'm using Hooker SuperComps, 2 1/8 primaries, 3 1/2 collectors - ceramic coated - in Summit - 2285-1HKR

The perform well, but hang pretty low. I've heard about Lemons - do they only supply custom built ? I've heard they're pretty spendy, but I gave pretty large green for these out of the box, so 'spendy' is prolly a relative term. Whats the advantage of Lemons?

Lemons = High Quality Construction, sized per your application/request, but best part no hammer required! Probably the best deal going when compared to taking your car to a shop and having a set custom built. I know they have Jigs for 1st gen Camaro/3rd Gen Nova's, I'm not sure what all models they have jigs for.

Thanks for the input guy's.

Dan does build a great product. lots of cars in the area that use his headers. Very nice work!

Jackie Deavers at LenMar motorsports has been building headers for 20 yrs. He can build a set complete, on my car for about $300.00 less and it's here in town.

Nothing against Dan's headers at all. He has a great product. I have to say I do like saving some $$$$$$$$ and can have them built in a much shorter time frame. I need to get this done and move on to the next thing on the list. And it's still a big list!
